Handsome riffraff. That was as good as Margaret could get these days. It was disheartening for a girl who only wanted to receive wealthy suitors. But alas, it was not meant to be. The Ministry had found it fit to pair her up with Roderick Slovic, another low-class pureblood. The ones running the program had probably thought they were a match made in heaven because of their shared demographics, disregarding the fact that it would benefit the both of them to marry beyond their station. If that was the case, it was a cruel joke on their part.
Margaret had just gotten out of work and had decided to take a stroll along London before apparating back home. She didn't relish the thought of coming back to her parents and siblings, who were all just as displeased with her engagement as she was, despite the fact that her parents had pushed her to do it. It hadn't been solely her decision to, though she had been personally willing. Yet, if she was the one that luck evaded, then that was her problem, of course. And Margaret felt the same way about herself as well, so it wasn't like she could hold anything against her folks. The only thing to blame was her damned luck.
She stopped in front of the Quidditch stadium and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. All day she had been forced to contain her unpleasant emotions and thoughts so she could focus on her work. But now she could embrace them a little. She was not weak enough to cry, but she allowed herself to relate to her emotions for a moment.
Life was always beset with setbacks and disappointments, but she couldn't let that stop her from doing what she had to do. She had to accept reality for the time being and keep scheming. At the moment, she couldn't see any way out of her engagement, but all hope wasn't lost. She knew there wasn't. There would be a way to overcome this and get where she was meant to be. She just had to keep seeking an opportunity, and she wouldn't find one if she just gave up completely because just she felt rotten.
Noelle had always felt bad that Uly couldn't get a position on his house's team (at that time before he became a Chaser), but she was glad that he was handling it with a good attitude. Feeling sorry for someone was always such a burden and it was nice to see people being able to bear their troubles and disappointments with strength and aplomb.
Noelle liked to think she would do the same when the time came for her to deal with something she didn't like. Though, being as somewhat brash and self-entitled as she still was, chances were that she'd have a hard time doing so. Regardless, she'd just have to learn since her reaction make any difference in the outcome of her fate.
Her eyes lit up when Uly suggested that they race. "Aye, who would I be to refuse? Let's do it!"
