Being in his third year meant new classes, new professors, more homework and less time to do fun things. It was a lot, really. Love was trying to work on an essay for one of his elective classes but his attention span was not having it. He nibbled on his quill for a bit but that only made him think about sugar quills. Didn't he have a couple in his bag? Digging around in his book bag, he came up with two. "Want one?" He asked Willow abruptly since at the moment, Willow was the only friend of his in the general common room with him.

Second year was the BOMB! Willow was no longer a scared little first year. He was now an experienced second year! He knew some spells. He knew the castle like his own back pocket (or so he thought), and he was now one of the older kids – but not so old that he had plenty of homework and could only think about his upcoming exams. Nevertheless, Willow still had to read, and the chapter they had been assigned for History of Magic was so incredibly long that he was sure that it stretched for more than 50 pages rather than the 10 their professor had promised.
He was currently lying on the couch with the heavy book lifted up in front of him and his eyes about to shut close any second now. Once they finally did, the book dropped right on top of his face waking him up again. “Wha-?” Willow sat up, being certain that someone had spoken to him as well. He glanced around, and his eyes landed on Love Night sitting nearby, offering him a... quill?“Err, no thanks. I don’t need to take notes. I got it all memorized in my super brain!”[/b9 Willow poked his forehead while he and Love probably knew the chapter would be forgotten for the next day’s class. “I could eat some candy though... If you have?” Of course, the Hufflepuff was very unaware of the fact that he was currently being offered a sugar quill.
Love gave the other boy a look of mild confusion before it turned into skepticism. Did the other boy think sugar quills were actual quills? "Sugar quills are candy, you goof," Love said with a small giggle. "They would make for very poor writing, too." He placed the sugar quill he had been offering in front of the other before unwrapping his own. The sweet scent of the candy was making his mouth water.

“Oh, thanks, man!” Willow said as he grabbed the sugar quill and unwrapped it before placing the feathery tip into his mouth. He sucked on it for a thoughtful moment until his green eyes looked back at Love and a frown started to appear on his face. “Say, Love. Do you think we could write with these?” Willow asked as he turned the quill around, feeling the pointy tip. “Wanna try?” He did not even wait for Love’s reply before leaning over, opening the bag that was placed on the floor next to him and finding a small bottle of ink. Willow sat up and turned to face the small sofa table. He had to drop down onto his knees so that he wouldn't have to lean over it, but the boy did not mind. He just flopped himself onto the floor and looked at his housemate. “Do you have some parchment we can use?”

"I would rather not waste candy like that," Love said though money wasn't really an issue for him. He was wealthy enough but still. The thought of sticking candy into ink wasn't particularly appealing to him. He did pluck out some parchment for the other boy and handed it over. He was content to keep eating his own rather than ruining it with ink. Besides, he had just said to Willow that it would make for poor writing.

“You are so boooring!” Willow rolled his eyes. There was a reason why Love hung out with Lewis and Gaetan, and he with Don. His Slytherin buddy was always up for no good, and never said no to test things simply for the fun of it. So, Willow let Love eat his candy while grabbing the parchment, unscrewing the ink bottle, and dipping the tip of the sugar quill into it. It did not take in as much ink as a regular quill would, and when Willow lifted it again, he noticed that it dripped ink all over the parchment.
Although, still with determined eyes, the Hufflepuff started writing sticking a tongue out from the corner of his lips. The writing turned out extremely messy with lots of dots and small ink puddles. He barely got to write the last “o” in “hello” before having to dip the quill again. “Ugh, it sucks. There is no way it could work as a quill for your exams… I would be neat though. Making the feathers of an actual quill sugary and then the rest all normal.” Willow leaned back into his seat. “I will invent that when I grow up and become a millionaire!”
