After the first task, the champions were told to keep their key and flag and warned not to lose them. The items would be needed again, and possibly even reveal clues about the next challenge. Silvia kept the necklace, too, albeit it lost whatever enchantment it initially had and was merely a pretty memorabile now.
She set out to search for clues a few days after the task, once she felt sufficiently recovered from the minor injuries the creatures had inflicted. A key being one of the objects posed a dilemma. Should she go around trying to unlock all doors she encountered? That would look suspicious, verging on ridiculous. Then again, what if some hint was really hidden behind one of the numerous doors of Firenze? She had to try, no matter how silly it made her look.
The blonde left her dormitory early in the morning, to avoid curious stares of the other students. Starting at the Atrium seemed reasonable. She approached the massive doors and tentatively tried to fit the key into the lock.

The key didn't seem to fit this door. Silvia glanced around to make sure nobody was gawking at her, then moved to the Dining Hall's entrance and tried the door there.

This door didn't do anything either, but Silvia was pretty far from despair. There were hundreds of doors in this building, though she would first try out the ones that opened into more or less public spaces. Attempts to break into professors' offices would come last, if she felt really desperate to find those clues.
She climbed the stairs to the third floor and went to the library. This seemed like an appropriate place to seek insights. Silvia tried the key again.

When the key failed - for the third time - to magically reveal a clue, an uneasy thought crept into Silvia's mind. What if it wasn't a door she needed to open? What if it was some cupboard, or a drawer, or a locker? Or something that didn't even have a visible lock to begin with? That would increase the possibilities a hundredfold...
She looked around the vacant library, wondering how much trouble she would get into if she tried the key on, say, the librarian's desk. Would the tournament organizers encourage the champions to snoop around like that, risking to infringe on staff members' privacy? Hopefully, the said staff members would have been warned that a dozen of competitive teens were wandering the palace with a key and sticking it into every lock they saw.
Warily, the blonde approached the desk and tried the key on its drawers.

None of the locks on the librarian's desk accepted the key. Silvia sighed and backed away before the librarian could arrive and notice her. What else had locks? Well, a whole lot of things. Diaries, for instance. Would any of those be present in the library?
Sighing, she took out the flag and waved it dispiritedly. Perhaps it had some hidden power to reveal the lock she was meant to use the key on.

The flag didn't seem to do anything. Silvia slipped it back into her pocket, deciding that it would be easier to work with one item at a time. She cast a look around the library. Did whatever she needed to unlock even have a visible lock? If not, she could spend an eternity in the right place and still not find out what the right action was.
For now, the blonde exited the library and went to the nearest classroom. She tried the key in its door.

Beginning to feel like an exceptionally inept burglar, Silvia ceased fiddling with the locks. She looked around the corridor, taking note of various objects and ornaments present.
