It felt like Rafe's day was never ending. He was constantly drowning in paperwork and it was close to now 7 in the evening when he finally managed to complete his work. Taking a deep sigh, he packed his things up and made his way to the atrium. As an unspeakable, one benefit he had working in this department was that he was able to leave his work at work rather than bring it home. Rubbing his eyes, Rafe waited in line with everyone else as he too stood in the long line waiting for the lifts. The ministry was as busy as ever as he looked around at the other people around him finding himself bumping into someone. " I'm sorry. " He said as he blinked his eyes really quickly. " It's been a long day. "

Dorian had returned to the Ministry nearly 45 minuets ago, from the rather tiring task of investigating a major lead about a certain dark wizard. It was now close to 7 in the evening, he gathered his things heading to the atrium, he was Head Auror and that meant paperwork, he was used to taking it home by now. People were already waiting for the lifts in a long line. Dorian was waiting in line for what seemed like hours, when someone bumped into him, "Watch it!" he turned to see just who it was who'd bumped into him, he recognized the man, RAFE LAUREN , "It has, hasn't it" he stated, shrugging.

" My apologies. " He responded once again at the other person's outburst. It only seemed fair considering Rafe wasn't exactly watching where he was stepping or moving for that matter. It was almost as if he were a zombie just going through the emotions. He rubbed his sore and tired eyes once more before taking an exhaustive sigh. " Mr. Payne. " He greeted as the blurriness wore off and he finally managed to see who it was. " Always a pleasure." Although he had a personal dislike toward Aurors, he did respect the chain of command let alone those in management. Rafe wasn't exactly the type to move into management as he rather enjoyed working and not being under the scope. " Long day in the Auror's Office? "

"It's fine" he responded, Dorian had almost dropped the files he was carrying in his arms, he managed not to let them fall to the floor. He couldn't entirely blame the other man for dashing into him, Dorian wasn't exactly entirely aware of people around him at that moment, not that he had eyes at the back of his head, but he couldn't put the entire blame on the other man. "Lauren" he greeted the man back, not bothered about titles being rather exhausted after being in the field for more than a few hours. "The pleasure's mine" he responded politely. Dorian was an Auror now Head Auror, and that gave him quite a few advantages, when it came to his other allegiances. "Quite the long day in the office, yes. How was your day?"

An echoing sound of gears grinding along with an exhaustive sigh mixed in with profanities was all Rafe heard as he turned his head toward the direction the line was facing. It seems one of the lifts got overloaded as people tried to shove themselves into the lifts. Some, even resulting to magical use to reduce their size to fit into the lifts. " Patience. " He said as he shook his head before turning his attention back over to Mr.Payne.
" It seems my day's just gotten longer. " He shrugged his shoulders and shook his head at the same time before looking at his watch. " I do hope we get over time for this. " The chances of him getting over time for a lift malfunction was slim but not impossible. " Wanna walk down the manual way? " He asked Mr.Payne making reference to the staircases.

A sudden and loud echoing sound of gears grinding along with audible sighs and cusses caused Dorian to visibly flinch, he turned his head towards the direction of the noise just as Rafe did. "Give it to them to act like idiots" he sighed, people had tried to shove themselves into the lifts, some using magic to reduce their sizes to fit in, "Reduce your weight maybe, reducing your size does nothing" he muttered under his breath, shaking his head at their stupidity. He turned facing Rafe once again.
"All of our days have been prolonged it seems, mine included" he agreed with the younger man in front of him, shrugging once more, running his hand through his own blonde hair. "Chances of that... let's just say... are rather slim" he stated, it wasn't impossible but at the same time it was rather unlikely to happen. "Sure, the manual way seems like our only option at the moment" Dorian would have preferred the lifts, but he wasn't entirely opposed to the idea of the staircases.

" Best to get ahead of the crowd." He responded as he began walking along side the other Ministry Employee smiling at a few others as he passed through them, " So what's the hot gossip in the Auror's Office?" He asked hiding the fact he was always concerned that his name would be an area of interest considering his past which he believed was kept secret however he did also know that the Ministry was capable of knowing information about people that the people didn't even know about. Especially the Auror's office.
" I've been doing some interesting work lately. " He added hoping to hide the fact he was trying to source information as much as he could without sharing too much information about what he knew and what he didn't know without also explaining his role as this would break the secrecy involved in his role. " Trust you understand I'm not really allowed to say too much of course as I respect your role and the secrecy involved in it."
