Desiree’s face warmed as Calvin took her hand and kissed her cheek in front of their friends, calling her his own trophy. While she still would have liked to win the actual competition, the comment made her feel giddy in a way she was unaccustomed to. She looked over at him and flashed him a brief shy smile, a subtle thank you for the compliment, before turning her attention back to their friends. While she enjoyed the intimacy with Calvin, she was not one to flaunt such relationships in front of others, particularly when they were involved in conversation.
She was pleased that Silvia agreed to the shopping trip in Paris, although she wasn’t surprised. After all, who would refuse such a marvelous pass time? She could not imagine a better way to spend a day with a friend. “Merci,” she thanked the blonde for her well wishes on her exams, her nerves slightly returning at the thought. “We shall discuss plans afterwards. I do not think I will have much time for anything but studying once I have returned to Beauxbatons.” Desiree knew she had a lot of work ahead of her. While daunting, it was also exciting, knowing her future lay ahead of her, so close to the next step in achieving her dream career.
Desiree was a little thrown off when Reino joined the group, having never interacted with the boy herself, but she could tell immediately there was something going on between him and Silvia. She was almost surprised she hadn’t seen them together much earlier in the year. Perhaps they only met in private? Silvia’s response, however, answered that question, as she noticed Reino’s body language was not reciprocated. Poor boy. It seemed he may have a crush on the tournament winner, and it may not be mutual.
Desiree was almost happy for the interruption in the form of St. Augustine’s school anthem calling for its students. She nodded as Calvin asked if she would like to join him, happy to have a more private final farewell before they were split apart. Before she left, she hugged Silvia one last time. “We shall write, and we will plan our shopping trip over the summer,” she reiterated, realizing just how much she would miss the girl. She had attended Firenze intending to compete and win a competition. What she had not intended was making such dear friendships. “Have a safe trip home!” With that, she took Calvin’s hand and let him lead her to his school’s transportation for their own final adieu.
