Kenzo had been catching up on some homework in the dormitory and wanted to get ahead before exams started. Since that would a lot in a couple months and his goal was to do a lot better this year, so he was going take the initiative to do well. Sitting and writing some things down, and enjoying some peace and quiet, since he felt that was a good way to study, so he took advantage of it.
He did look up when he heard someone, giving a smile. "Hi! Are you here to join me?" he asked. Not minding a study buddy minus his preference for peace and quiet in a place like this after all, since studying without distractions, kept you on task. "How is the school year going so far? I know we barely talk, but I was definitely curious to know how are you." he smiled a bit.

Most evenings, Cecelia stayed in the library until it closed, then moved to the Gryffindor common room. There, she had taken a liking to sitting at a small table in the corner of the room, studying the night away. Exams were coming up, so the second year spent more time reviewing material than pre-reading. They were both important, but she knew she needed to prioritize. Her older sister told her that all the time and Willa was smart.
Someone was already sitting at her regular table, so Cecelia thought about sitting elsewhere, but all the other seats were taken. She hoped Kenzo wouldn't mind if she joined him. He seemed nice! "Hi Kenzo!" She piped. "I'm good, thank you. How are you?" She liked asking other people about their day, especially if she didn't get the chance to talk to them a lot. "Can I sit with you?"

Of course she could join him, was Kenzo's first thought.
He wanted her to join her and help him study, since he liked a study buddy. "That's a silly question, I was asking you if you wanted to join me, but please come and take a seat please." smiled Kenzo. This was going to be exciting, and he was curious where Cecelia was before coming, but he guessed she was probably in the library. "How was the library?" he asked.
It was probably busy. It usually was.
"I don't usually study in the library, because too many Ravenclaws." he chuckled, they were all smart. He wasn't sure he could handle being by the booksmart kids for too long. "Do you think exams will be hard?" he asked with excitement.

When Kenzo told her that her question was silly, Cecelia's cheeks turned red. She knew he meant it nicely, but it was still embarrassing. Taking a seat across from him, surprise lit up in her eyes when he asked how the library was. She wondered how he knew that she had been there. "It was quiet," she said. The common room was quiet tonight too, but it was usually a lot louder. "How's the common room?" It seemed like another silly question since she was now there with him, but she wondered if it had been busier earlier.
She didn't know if Kenzo was joking, but then he laughed and she giggled. "If you study in the library, you can choose a table away from everyone else." Her regular table was one that was tucked in the corner of the library, in a quiet spot between two bookshelves. "I don't think the professors try to make the exams hard on purpose. I think if we study, we should be okay." At least, that was what her brother told her. Cecelia believed him. "What are you studying?"

Kenzo didn’t want to be a jerk to Cecelia, but part of him felt like it was. “Oh really?” He said but that was a stupid question. Of course it was since it was a library. It was meant for studying after all. “The common room has been warm, but earlier it was definitely very lively you know.” he chuckled. Since he liked to sit by the fireplace and study.
“Yeah, but then you feel secluded. I should really consider since it’s a plethora of resources for me to use.” he said with a shrug, but he liked the common room. “I think so too, since I really want to do well this year, and then be ready for Quididtch next year.” he laughed since he really wanted it. “Oh I'm studying Defense Against the Dark Arts.” he said with a big smile. “How about you?”
Post by CECELIA MACLEAN on May 30, 2021 9:10:23 GMT -5
The library wasn't always quiet, so Cecelia knew why Kenzo might have seemed surprised. He probably liked to spend time in the less quiet areas. He seemed popular, so she understood why he might have reacted that way. "Warm is nice," she said and then giggled. She didn't know why she giggled out of nowhere, but Jay said that sometimes they giggled to feel less embarrassed. Maybe that was why.
Kenzo probably liked to study with a lot of friends. Cecelia usually studied alone or with her best friend, so it made sense that he might have found a private table to be too secluded. "If you would like, you can sit with me. My table is in a quiet place and that way you won't be sitting alone." She didn't mind if her other friends joined her table since they were usually quieter students.
Cecelia thought Defence Against the Dark Arts was interesting, but she struggled with performing the spells. She wondered if Kenzo had that problem. "Defence Against the Dark Arts is so cool! What's your favourite part about it?" She said.
When the question turned to her, she responded a little too excitedly. "I'm studying History of Magic! It's so, so interesting." It was her favourite class for a reason!

Kenzo loved when something was warm, since it made him feel really warm inside. That was a nice feeling, plus the cold weather in Scotland was not his favorite thing in the slightest, and gave Cecelia a nod in agreement. When he was offered to join her in the library, Kenzo didn't mind taking that offer up, since it sounded like a good offer he'd love to take up. "I will next time. Since you definitely seem to take school seriously." he pointed out, it wasn't until now when he had started to in a way take things seriously now, since he wanted to be a good student.
Defense Against The Dark Arts was most definitely his favorite class aside from Potions, so he had to agree. "Yeah it's a really good topic, you know. I like being able to defend myself, and with the use of the Killing Curse, on the rise. It will be good to do that." smiled Kenzo, since he didn't want to die now, he was only twelve going on thirteen, that was too young. "How about you?" asked Kenzo. There was so much discuss in that class.
When he learned that she was studying History of Magic, one of his least favorite subjects. "That's cool. Where are you at?" he asked.

The colour in Cecelia's cheeks deepened when Kenzo said she seemed like she took school seriously. She wanted to be a good student, but she didn't want to seem like a tryhard. That was what her brother called her sister, and even though she wasn't familiar with the word, she didn't like how it sounded. She wanted to do well in school, but school wasn't her whole world.
The second year had received a copy of the Daily Prophet article and had become really worried when she read the headlining article. She was glad that her family was safe in Canada and she hoped that the Ministry would catch whoever was responsible. She didn't want anyone else to get hurt! "I think being able to defend yourself is really important. My mom and dad signed me up for karate so I can learn self-defence," she said. She liked karate a lot! "Do you want to be an Auror when you graduate?" She didn't know if that was a weird question to ask, but she hoped it wasn't. She was always curious about what her classmates wanted to do when they graduated.
"I'm reading about the Chamber of Secrets," she said when Kenzo asked what she was studying. It was one of the most interesting events in modern history and she thought it was cool that there was a secret snake lair under the girl's washroom. Her eyes widened. "Did you hear about the Basilisks in Dublin?"
Post by KENZO ROSSI on Jun 5, 2021 11:38:47 GMT -5
Kenzo saw the colors deepened and hope he didn't strike a nerve or something. He didn't mean to make Cecelia sad, because she was always so nice to him. When she went into her parents teaching her karate, it was safe to Kenzo didn't know what that was. “What is karate? I never heard of it, ” he said a bit confused he heard of dueling, but he knew that muggles had a lot of terms.
Terms he didn't know about.
He shrugged, “I don't know yet, because I actually really love Quidditch and thought one day I would own my mom’s business.” he said with a bit of a pause, “That won't happen, but I think I want to play professional or maybe do something with defensive magic.” he said with a bit of a shrug. “We shall have to see, ” he said with a sigh. “What about the Chambers of Secrets are you learning? I hear the skeleton is still hidden in it.” he said amazed, he didn't know much about history. “No but please I want to know? This ain't basilik country.” he sighed then again what was their country?
Post by CECELIA MACLEAN on Jun 5, 2021 13:28:56 GMT -5
Most days, Cecelia forgot that many of her classmates hadn't grown up in the Muggle world like she had. They all attended Hogwarts, studied magic and practiced casting spells, but when they started talking about their hometowns, their differences emerged. "Karate is like duelling, except without magic. It's a martial art and teaches us how to defend ourselves and be disciplined." Her dad said that was important and she believed him.
Kenzo was on the junior team with her, so she had a feeling that he liked Quidditch. He wouldn't have attended every practice and game if he wasn't interested in the sport, after all. That was dedication! "Do you want to be a Quidditch player and then own your mom's business?" She asked, wondering if that was what her housemate meant. She didn't know what business Kenzo's mom owned, but she thought it was awesome that his mom owned one.
Her eyes widened. "What skeleton?" She hadn't heard about a skeleton in the Chamber of Secrets, but it was really secret and not a lot of people had entered it before. Maybe there was a skeleton she hadn't read about!
Since Cecelia had gone home to Canada during the winter break, she hadn't heard about the Basilisks in Dublin until she returned to Hogwarts. Apparently, the Weekly Prophet Editor-in-Chief had been there when it happened. Cecelia was glad she was safe, even if she had a feeling that the Slytherin didn't like her that much. After the prefect had shouted at her for writing "rubbish" for February's gossip column, Cecelia had almost teared up, but she decided she wasn't going to let her bully her like that.
Remembering what had happened made her feel upset again, so she focused on Kenzo's question instead. "During the winter break, there were three Basilisks that appeared in Dublin," she said, her voice hushed as though they were sharing a secret. "I don't know where they came from, but there were a lot of people that got hurt." She had heard that one of the older Slytherins had been petrified, but she wasn't sure if that was a rumour or not. She hoped it was!
In all fairness, Kenzo had in a lot of ways didn't exactly pay attention to current events due to what happened with his mother, but this was definitely news to his ears, but when Cecelia spoke about what karate was. "Discipline? What kind of discipline?" he asked, not exactly sure, since if it was hand to hand to compact, why would someone need any discipline, then again with dueling it required that. "Dueling teaches you how to defend yourself too." he chuckled, or at least that's what he thought of dueling as for most of his life.
"Thing is, my mother is not exactly here right now, and someone owns her business now." he sighed, so the chances of him getting them was going to be a thing that would end up being something he'd need to do on his own. "It's a long story that I don't really want to talk about, it's why I left the team full time, though, but yes I do hope to play Quidditch one day, and become a legend. Although my sister has that title, since she's far more determined." he said with a bit of chuckle in his tone, Malia was definitely the more ambitious of the two.
A eyebrow raised, "You didn't know. There was a basilisk skeleton after Harry Potter defeated it, and during the Battle of Hogwarts, Ron Weasley went in and go it since it was a horcrux." he said with a lot of excitement. How didn't people know any of that? Then again he was sure that Cecelia wasn't from England to know the entire story, "Well I did hear about that, but a lot happened in my personal life, so I didn't know the whole story." he shrugged

The second year nodded eagerly when Kenzo said that duelling also taught self-defence. "That's why I think duelling and karate are similar," she said. "They both teach self-defence! I think you have to be disciplined to duel too because you need to be focused and practice hard to become a better dueller." She had learned that from attending a few Duelling Club meetings. She wasn't officially a member of the club because she was busy with her other clubs, especially the Weekly Prophet, but she liked to learn more about duelling when she had time.
Confused about Kenzo's mother and her business, Cecelia was about to ask, but quickly shut her mouth when her housemate said that he didn't want to talk about it. As curious as she was, she knew that meant it was a serious topic that Kenzo probably only talked about with his close friends. "If you ever want to tell someone about it, I am a good listener," she said. They might not have been close friends, but she wanted to help anyone she could. "Is your sister's name Malia?" She had heard about the older Slytherin before, but she had never talked to her. Apparently, she had a reputation for not being really nice, but Cecelia tried not to judge people based on rumours. Like her brother often said, she needed to meet them first to get both sides of the story.
"I don't think that skeleton is still there," she said, then her eyes widened. "Is it still there?" For the last few months, she had been searching for secret entrances to the lairs of creatures, but she hadn't considered trying to find old lairs of creatures. They probably had skeletons and that was what an archeologist would look for!
Kenzo agreed with Cecelia, it had probably required a lot of discipline, and if someone is hurt to know when top. “Yeah I guess and have self-control, because I imagine if you hate someone you could probably end up going all out in that duel after them.” he sighed, the Gryffindor knew he needed to duel more once he got back for his third year.
A nod came at her request to listen, all of it was too traumatic for the time being for him to talk about, because no one could know the feeling of being left. “I will take the offer up, but it was just a lot to deal with, but once I feel better we could talk about it?” he asked her softly hoping she understood. Yes his sister was Malia, and he nodded. “Unfortunately that is my sister who is a lot more spiteful and unforgiving as I am.” he joked for a bit.
He doubted it would still be there with all the improvements and renovations. “I don't know we have to ask around, if you want to explore it before we leave, I am down, or we can explore it for next year.” he smiled a bit.

Her eyes became round at the thought of duelling someone out of anger. She hoped that never happened, but she knew that sometimes when people became angry, they couldn't control it. It was like crying. No one wanted to cry, but sometimes the tears came out on their own. "My brother says 'hate' is a strong word," she said, her voice quiet. "He says we should 'dislike' people, not 'hate' them."
Kenzo's voice had almost become as quiet as her own when he responded and that was how Cecelia knew that it was a serious topic. "I will always be here if you need to talk," she said, not speaking more on the subject. Kenzo would tell her if he wanted to, whenever he felt better.
"I think a lot of older siblings are like that," she said thoughtfully, thinking about her best friend's brother. Josh was not really nice to Ella Marie, but he was her big brother. He wasn't like Jay who Cecelia thought was always nice to everyone. He wasn't like Willa either. Even though her big sister made fun of Jay, she meant it in a nice way. "Do you have any other siblings?"
At the mention of the Chamber of Secrets, Cecelia's eyes darted around the room and she leaned forward, lowering her voice. "I tried to find a way into the secret lair, but we need to be able to speak Snake—I mean, Parseltongue—to get into it. Do you know anyone who speaks Parseltongue?"
Post by KENZO ROSSI on Jun 15, 2021 21:20:35 GMT -5
Kenzo didn't exactly think of hate as a strong word, since people liked to toss the word around like it was nothing. "I suppose your right, but hate is so easy to go you know, since you are making how you feel very clear." he pointed out, but he supposed maybe he should use the term dislike, since it just seemed a lot more how could it be said less rude in regards to someone. "Hate leads to terrible things." sighs Kenzo.
He nodded at Cecelia's words.
The Gryffindor agreed with Cecelia, a lot of older siblings were a lot more harsh. Although he was afraid no one could ever amount to how spiteful Malia could be in most situations towards people, it scared him a lot. "That may be true, but you haven't met my sister." sighed Kenzo. Even if he heard Malia constantly say that she was going to be turning over a new leaf, he was still unwary of it. "I have three other siblings." said Kenzo, he wasn't as close to them. but they were still his siblings, all breed from the same woman.
The Gryffindor didn't think of actually going into the Chambers of Secrets, since the last time it was open, a lot of bad things happened, and he didn't want anyone to get hurt, but he supposed it could happen, if it was planned out. "Isn't there a Ravenclaw who speaks parseltongue?" asked Kenzo, he wasn't sure, but he had heard people talk about a kid in Ravenclaw who was parseltongue. "Do you think we'd get in trouble?" asked Kenzo, but if their was just a skeleton, could they really get in a way get into trouble?
