Breaking up with Daniel caused quite a turmoil in Silvia's heart, although she was yet to shed a single tear. Four days had already passed, and her feelings continued switching from anger to disgust to disappointment. She was lied to, deceived, cheated on. Used as a way to hide a coward's secret. Half a year wasted on being with him instead of... instead of what? She couldn't quite answer that question. Her mind kept recoiling from it and bouncing back to the scene in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom.
Today was the second day she skipped classes. It was not a smart thing to do, what with O.W.L.s approaching, but the thought of interacting with people sounded repulsive. Would everyone know already? Silvia herself hadn't told anybody that she and Daniel were no more, but the news must have gotten out. And she wasn't at all sure that she had enough strength in her not to reveal his little secret to the first person who asked her what happened. Better to wait until her emotions settle down.
There was only one person she had missed seeing during all this time of avoiding social interactions. Aiden. Her thoughts kept bringing him up every so often, and in those moments she felt far less furious with Daniel. It took her a while to finally come up with a way to use this as a means of resolving her emotional conundrum.
She sent Aiden a note, asking him to meet her in the abandoned classroom on the third floor after the day's classes were over. Having arrived ten minutes earlier, she spent most of that time trying to decide where to position herself. Sitting on a chair behind a desk? No, that would look silly. Leaning casually against a wall? Even more ridiculous, what with all these seats available. For some reason, it seemed incredibly important to the sixteen-year-old that Aiden's first glimpse of her would create an impression of someone confident and effortlessly attractive. Eventually she settled on half-sitting on the side of the teacher's desk, after using her wand to remove dust from it. Arranging her hair to fall in a silvery curtain around her shoulders consumed the remainder of that time. Her heart thumping wildly in her chest, she barely had the time to turn her head and pretend to be looking out the window when she heard footsteps approaching...
Aiden scratched the back of his neck, as he wandered down one of the numerous corridors of the magical school, until he reached the classroom he sought. He looked down to the note in his other hand, as he scanned the contents written there, and double checked he had the details correct. He was at the right place, at the right time, to - hopefully - see the right person... who would be Silvia, if things were legit. After all, it could have just as easily be some prank, Aiden reasoned.
Still, far be it for the Hufflepuff to get nervous or hesitant. Instead, Aiden stuffed the letter into his pocket and reached out to open the door.
"Here goes."
Aiden shouldered his way through the doorway, still dressed in his student uniform as classes had concluded not long prior. He was still getting used to his width and height, he was over six foot now and broad, and both characteristics had drawn some attention from some in Hogwarts. Girls, it seemed, which was awesome. Aiden had never really spent much time with other girls, he always seemed to be with Cress, but lately his friend had been a little distant or angry or something...
"Silvia," Aiden said with a blink as he looked ahead to see Silvia. "Uh, hey..."
The youth swallowed.
Silvia looked... well... like Silvia.
Aiden stepped into the abandoned classroom, his purpose to show confidence, as he closed the door and smiled.

As Aiden walked into the room, Silvia's heartbeat appeared to triple. It was almost painful, really; not at all the sweet and romantic experience she had imagined. Was this how boys felt when approaching girls? Was this what all those poor guys experiences when hit with her Charm, trying to invite her on a date? The part-Veela suddenly felt a whole lot of compassion for the entirety of the opposite gender. And a fair bit of guilt for having turned some of them down so brusquely... Unthinkingly, she slid off the desk and moved a few steps forward, as if drawn by an invisible magnet. It was incredibly difficult to maintain eye contact with Aiden for more than a few seconds at a time... especially now that he was looking at her expectantly.
"Heeeyyy!" she greeted the Hufflepuff, putting far too many vowels into the exclamation. Stopitstopitstopit, you sound dumb. Her cheeks flushing a light shade of pink, she somehow managed to retain a smile as she took a deep breath. "Everything's good, I just— well... I'll just cut to the chase. I broke up with Daniel because he cheated on me with— um, I guess that doesn't matter. Anyway, I doubt he ever liked me, I think he just used me to hide something— which also doesn't matter." No matter how angry she was with her ex, she couldn't bring herself to reveal his nasty secret. It was up to him; if he wished to continue betraying all Gryffindor stood for with his cowardice, so be it.
"Don't say you're sorry, it's fine, really. Long overdue, probably. I only, um..." Silvia had a whole speech prepared, and repeated it in her head so many times. Now she was fogetting the main lines and stumbling for words, her confidence faltering. Did Aiden really like her, or was he just being nice all those times he chatted with her, smiled at her, held eye contact for just a bit too long? All that had seemed like an undeniable evidence of his attraction to her but at the moment she was not at all certain. "Are you dating anyone?" she blurted out before her courage could fail her completely. "Cressida Villen, for instance?" Oh, no. She had not intended to mention the older girl by name - bringing someone she considered to be her main competitor to the front of Aiden's mind was a silly thing to do. But then, she didn't want anyone else feeling what she felt when she caught her boyfriend making out with another person. That was an experience she wouldn't wish for an enemy, and Villen wasn't all that bad, she supposed. Especially if it turned out she wasn't even going out with Aiden.

Aiden hadn't been sure what to expect, really. It was nice seeing Silvia, it usually was, especially after the last summer had passed and Aiden had found himself more and more interested in gir--
"Daniel cheated?" Aiden inclined his head with a frown, confused. That didn't sound like Daniel. Did it?
"That sucks, sorry to hear it," the Hufflepuff continued, as he frowned. "No one should ever be cheated on, if ya ask me. Sorry it happened."
Aiden planned to check in with his friend, to find out the specifics, but for the moment there was a sadness for Silvia and her situation.
"Eh, what now?"
The boy raised his eyebrows as the other asked who he was seeing, whether it was Cressida or someone else. There hadn't been any dating or whatever between the pair of Hufflepuffs, no, though at one point Aiden had crushed on Cress pretty hard - but she hadn't really seemed too interested, from what (little) Aiden could tell.
"Uh, nope. Not datin' or seein' anyone... why do ya ask?"
Aiden watched, curious but also with a growing nervousness he wasn't accustomed to.

He wasn't dating anyone! That was a relief, albeit a short-lived one; the dread seeped back in rather quickly. Now there were no moral obstacles in her way, she could just go ahead and say what she was meaning to say... only it was so, so terrifying. What if Aiden rejected her? She couldn't back out now, either, how would she explain that note she sent to him, asking to meet her here? The only way was forward. Silvia moved even closer to the Hufflepuff, forcing herself to meet his inquiring gaze.
"I ask because I'd like you to date me," was what she finally managed to get out. Not a particularly amorous line, but every other option she had come up with sounded even worse.
Although the silence after her words couldn't have elapsed for more than a few seconds, the blonde felt an urge to break it and explain herself further. "It's just that... well, I've liked you for a while now, you're funny and you're charismatic and you're genuine... and I think you like me, too-" She stopped talking abruptly, belatedly aware that insisting her feelings were reciprocated - before Aiden could even say anything on the matter himself - wasn't the best course of action. Especially if she was wrong.
Aiden raised his eyebrows, he kept the curious expression on his face, and for all intents and purposes seemed to be calm and thoughtful; but inwardly, Aiden was thinking at a million miles an hour. As it stood, Silvia wanted to date him. He had to admit that for the last year he had been noticing Silvia more and more all over the place, but had kept distance because of the Daniel-Silvia dating situation. Though, now, it seemed that was all done and over, and the beautiful blonde wanted to date him.
It didn't take much convincing, as Aiden prepared to ask her out--
Oh, she's still sayin' more.
--but paused, as she spoke about liking him, his being funny and stuff, to which Aiden smiled. Then Silvia finished suddenly. The Hufflepuff saw no reason to drag it out.
"Ya'd be right, yeah," he said simply, as he shrugged and then stepped closer. "So... wanna date me?"

He did like her, he admitted it. Silvia laughed, giddy with joy and relief, her head almost spinning from this sudden lightness as the burden of doubt dropped off. "Oh, I'm not sure, maybe we shouldn't rush it..." The coy line was delivered with far too wide a grin for the words to be taken seriously. "Yes, yes I do."
Silvia drew yet closer to him, but stopped as she remembered the next bit. The one where she would start this relationship right, without withholding anything. There was some risk here, since Aiden could begin doubting if his attraction to her was natural or not, but she simply had to take it. "So, um... I don't want us to keep secrets from each other. I think that's where we went wrong with Daniel." The admission was on the tip of her tongue but she hesitated, wishing for more time to figure out exactly how to phrase it in the most acceptable way. "Do you have any major secrets that might be relevant?" she askked in a joking tone, stalling for time as her mind crafted the perfect confession.
There might have been some concern, when Silvia suggested taking things slow, but the grin was matched somewhat by Aiden in return. He could appreciate a pretty girl with a sense of humor, it was kind of ideal for him really; and while he felt some guilt over the split between Silvia and Daniel, it was still a split, which meant Aiden wasn't doing bad by his friend. If they were done, Silvia was available, and the Hufflepuff wouldn't miss the chance to date (arguably) the hottest girl in Hogwarts.
"I can understand that, yeah," Aiden said with a nod, as Silvia mentioned secrets and wanting to avoid them. "Well... I guess I should tell ya somethin' first, before we make anythin' public."
In hindsight, Aiden probably should have mentioned his... situation before asking her out, but the excitement had been, well.
"This is kinda hard to say, it's - uh - not somethin' a lot of people know 'bout or understand," he said, aware he might be making Silvia more concerned that prepared. "Last year I had an accident, an' it kinda changed me. Like... in a huge way."
Aiden bit his lip as he winced.
"I'm, uh, I'm a werewolf. An' it's kinda been a big secret only a few people know at Hogwarts."
And now came the dread, as Aiden waited to see how Silvia reacted, or if she just outright walked away...

Silvia blinked. She didn't expect Aiden to share anything, all she wanted was to win a bit more time to perfect the wording of her own confession. His answer left her dumbfounded. A werewolf? And it didn't look like he was joking at all. The line was delivered with a serious face, the expression leaving no place for doubt. After a few moments of silent staring, she realized she should say something. He must have been terrified when telling her... she had to at least make it known that she didn't have anything against werewolves, that her current shocked state did not mean she was reconsidering this relationship. She wasn't. "I had... no idea, I'm so sorry that happened to you." She reached out and hugged him.
Compared to this bombshell, her own confession would look ridiculously insignificant. Perhaps this wasn't the time to share it, she could always just do it later. Silvia snatched the flimsy excuse without bothering to double-check its logic. "Does it hurt, when you transform? Who- who bit you, where did that happen?"
Aiden didn't know what to expect. Shock, of course, but maybe fear or repulsion or anger or... well, anything, really. The secret hadn't been told to enough people to expect a common response or estimate how it might go being told, since so few had been made privy. He understood there were risks with being in a relationship with him, the least of which was a risk of accidental biting. There was also scratches in human form, capable of giving another wolfish tenancies, or even lasting scars.
There would be no ill will if Silvia turned away.
"I understan' if..."
Aiden started to say, but then he was suddenly hugged.
"Oh, it's a'right, I can live with it."
Not like he had a choice.
"Yeah, it hurts every time, no doubtin' that. Me body cracks an' distorts an' it isn't pretty... but the potions I get help with the pain, mostly." he said with a nod, though his eyes went distant. "And, uh, it happened at Cress' place, when I was visitin' one evenin' for dinner. We were outside... an' some crazy werewolf attacked, tryin' to bite her, to make some political point 'bout her parents or somethin'."
That took him back, as Aiden had a moment along memory lane. Back then things had been simpler with Cress, she had been less agitated by whatever Aiden did. There was even a stir of resentment, as he realized she had been treating him like she had, despite his saving her and taking a bite in the process...
"Anyway, that's kind of it, I guess. Wrong place, wrong time, maybe. Was there anythin' else ya wanted to know?"

Silvia could feel the accusatory questions forming in her head. This happened at Cressida Villen's place, how come her parents didn't ensure a guest's safety? Why did he get bitten when he wasn't the target, or was the other seventh year also a werewolf? How could Aiden even be friends with Villen after such an event? With tremendous effort, she stopped herself from saying any of that. The impule was merely a remnant of her past self, the one who thought the blonde Hufflepuff girl was a competitor. There had to be good reasons for Aiden to retain a close bond with Cressida, and perhaps Silvia would learn of them at a later time. It would be inappropriate to give in to shallow curiosity right now.
"I'm just glad you survived it. And they must be improving the potion all the time, maybe soon they'll be able to eliminate pain during transformation." She did not dare to speculate about a possible cure; that was too far-fetched to provide any consolation or hope.
In the end, he did not even ask if she had any secrets to share. That was just so... Aiden of him. The fifth year smiled up at him. "No, that's pretty much it. I think we're all set." She would tell him some other time. She really would.
