It wasn't time for Astronomy class. Actually, there were no classes today, which was nice. It was definitely after curfew, but Roxanne wanted to look at the stars, so she climbed up to the top of the Astronomy Tower. She didn't look at the stars just yet, though. First she peered out at the grounds below. They were so quiet and no one was there, which was good. She realized this would be a pretty good vantage point to catch people sneaking about or going into the forbidden forest. But she thought that the forest was scary enough during the daytime. No need to add an added spooky nighttime element.
After that, she leaned next to a pillar and looked up at the stars. They were so beautiful and serene, just always there while the witches and wizards below squabbled about this and that. Roxanne thought about life's mysteries while she stared up at the stars, very lost in thought.

Ava huffed and rolled over in her bed. Sleep was eluding her this evening, her mind rolling back and forth between one worry and another. Her roommates snored soundly as she struggled in vain to reach the same peaceful bliss and she was now at her wits end. In the dark, the room closed in and began to feel stuffy. She knew she needed some fresh air to clear her mind but didn't want to get in trouble for being out past curfew. One raucous snore from the bed next to her gave her the push she needed to quietly slip out of bed. It was quite a jaunt from her dorm in the basement to the astronomy tower, however the yearn for fresh air and a beautiful evening sky hastened her to her destination.
Soon enough she arrived at the top of the stairs to the tower and paused briefly to catch her breath, wishing there was a spell she knew to increase her lung capacity. The evening air filled her lungs and she felt a bit more at ease. Once she recovered from arduous trek up the staircase she noticed another student leaning against one of the columns. She was shocked they hadn't heard her gasping for air so she figured they must have been deep in thought. Ava was never really one to think deeply, usually just blurting out whatever was on her mind. Before she considered whether or not she might scare the other night owl she blurted out "Oh, hey there!"

Ava gasped a little when she heard someone call out to her. Was she really that lost in thought? She supposed she must have been. But that wasn't very good, considering the fact that she had snuck out after curfew just to go to the top of the astronomy tower. If that person had been a Prefect or a professor, she surely would have been caught very easily! Thankfully it wasn't. It was a small first year and Roxanne didn't recognize them.
"Hi, sorry, you gave me a small fright," she said, getting her breathing back to normal. The girl looked like she needed to do the same, but for another reason. Maybe she was running from someone and was trying to hide in the astronomy tower or something. Roxanne hoped not. She didn't want to get involved in whatever it might be. "I was just... Isn't it beautiful?" she said, indicating the stars above. "It's easy to forget when we have to study them all the time. Oh sorry, I'm Roxanne by the way. You didn't want to be alone up here, do you? I can go."
((This was posted last term so she's not a Prefect yet and only a fourth year.))
