It was the end of term and Roxanne was getting a little nervous about things. She had her exams coming up and there was just so much to know! She was thankful she didn't have to do her OWLs yet. She wasn't sure how that would go next year on top of their regular exams as well. But there was a lot riding on this year. Next term, the Prefects would be chosen and she hoped that she would get that badge. But she wouldn't find out until the summer unfortunately.
For now, she had to be on her best behaviour (she always did like rules and rarely ever broke them), and had to pass all of her exams. She figured that History of Magic would go well. She wasn't so sure about Astronomy or Herbology, though. She had a couple of books with her in the Great Hall while she tried to eat some late breakfast. A lot of the people had cleared out, which gave her a bit more room to have her books on the table.

While his classmates all seemed nervous about upcoming exams Gavyn seemed completely unburdened by it. Then again he wasn't one to sweat things ever either, especially not exams. As long as he passed he was perfectly happy with whatever he got. Next year was the one to really worry about after all. OWLs were what decided what NEWTs he could take. Thankfully that was next years problem! "Hey, hi, trade chocolate frog cards later? Great!"
Gavyn made his way past certain groups until he spotted Roxanne sitting mostly by herself. It looked like she was studying too which made sense, the year was ending soon after all and some people cared a bit more about their grades. He was about to disturb that. "Roxie!" Plunking down across from her he set down his clinking bookbag before pulling out a glass jar with fireflies. He had caught them to have some fun lights as well as bug pets to feed. "Are you studying from all of those? Are you expecting the exams to be that hard this year?"

Roxanne looked up briefly from her book to see Gavyn suddenly sitting across from her. Her eyes lit up, excited to see her friend. Roxanne pulled some of the books closer to her so he would have some more space on the table. "Well they won't be easy. Don't tell me you haven't started." Gavyn always was pretty relaxed about things, but Roxanne swore it would probably catch up to him eventually. Those sorts of things always did.
"Is that new?" Roxanne asked, nodding her head towards the jar of fireflies. They weren't very bright in the well lit Great Hall, but she was sure that they would look a lot more impressive at night.

A sheepish look came over Gavyn as he gave a little shrug in response to the not-having-started comment. Gavyn tended to wing just about everything, even Quidditch though he would never tell his Captain that. For better or worse, he was an honest person so he just replied with the truth. Plus, maybe she would help him study since he hadn't even cracked his books other than for classes. "Started? Not even in the slightest!"
Happily he turned his firefly jar to better show off the little bugs who were not very bright in the current light. But they were still interesting to look at. He had made them a very nice mini habitat to live in, too, which had taken more time than finding his little bug friends. "Yeah! I caught them yesterday after I finished their jar home. I don't want to keep them too long since I don't think they will travel all the way home very well, but I wanted a neat light source that I could also feed and stuff."

"Oh, Gavyn..." Roxanne was sincerely concerned for him. She didn't want him to flunk his classes and then they wouldn't be in the same year anymore! She probably wasn't going to change his mind or get him to study with her today, though, so she dropped it and focused on the contents of his jar.
"Oh look, they have a home!" Roxanne leaned in close to see all the contents of the jar. "That's fun! Are you going to collect more in the summer?" Of course, there were fireflies everywhere, not just at Hogwarts, but Roxanne never thought to capture any herself.

"What?" Gavyn was absolutely unaware of her concern about his studying habits. He had always sort of done the end of year exams by the seat of his trousers, which he kept getting told was not a great tactic. Especially not since this was an OWL year and the tests were going to be different. Harder if the rumours were to be believed, but not as terrible as the NEWTs in two years. "Yeah! I wanted them to feel comfortable in there. I won't keep them long but still, they deserve a nice leafy home while I do have them."
They were neat bugs to watch and have them lighting up an area with their glowing backsides. He just wanted to keep these ones alive during the winter months and then free them once the weather was consistently warm. "Maybe. I might try different bugs or maybe frogs this summer. Not sure yet really." There was a lot of time between now and summer again so his interest might shift by then. Glancing at her study materials he hummed thoughtfully. "Do you really think the OWLs will be hard? I guess I never really thought about it much."
