TIME: October 1st
Everyone was abuzz with excitement for the students arriving soon. Students from 5 different schools and their Headmaster or Headmistresses would be arriving soon from all over the globe: Beauxbatons, Xanadu, Selveira, Augustine, and Dahshur. The purpose was of course for the famous Dodecawizard Tournament, which was a competition between 6 schools and 12 Champions in total. But it was more than that. For the students who came to Firenze, they would also get to experience culture in Italy and learn about others' cultures from the other schools as well.
The Headmaster stood at the top of the steps that led into the castle and waited for the schools to arrive. All of the Firenze students were also gathered outside, though less organized. There were many of them, so some were near the pond, while others were gathered more towards he castle.
Beauxbatons was the first to arrive, in their beautiful carriages. They exited and walked towards the castle with their belongings as many cheered and clapped for their arrival.
Next came the Xanadu students, who arrived by train. They took a plane with their luggage enchanted so the muggles wouldn't suspect anything. Then they did some sight-seeing the previous day in Roma before taking the train to Firenze.
The next school to arrive was the Selveira students. They also took a plane but then did some sight-seeing in the city of Firenze instead so they actually took a magical van from the city to the school, borrowed from the Italian Ministry, which fit everyone inside.
Next were the students of Dahshur, who took their magical canoes to Pisa, where they were stored there safely by the Italian Ministry. Then they took a train to Firenze.
Last but definitely not least were the students of Augustine. Just like the last tournament, they took a plane a week before and did some touring and sight-seeing around the country before arriving at Firenze Academy. They were the furthest away, so a plane ended up being one of the safest options for them. They arrived in regular carriages. At least, it seemed that way from the outside, but they were quite large on the inside.
"Welcome, everyone!" the Headmaster greeted. "Once you have gathered your belongings, please in the Atrium. Someone will bring them up to your dormitories. Then follow me to the Dining Hall!" The Headmaster started to head inside, along with all of the Firenze staff and students. Everyone helped out in either helping carrying luggage or leading the new students into the castle.
There weren't any special decorations as of yet, as the Italians felt that would be a little tacky. But everything was especially clean and the grand castle spoke for itself. It was rather simple and smaller than Hogwarts, but it was still a lovely castle.
The Dining Hall had high ceilings and an extra two tables were squeezed in for all of the extra bodies. All of the Headmasters and Headmistresses would be eating at the table with the rest of the Firenze faculty. Most of the schools didn't have that many students, except for Augustine. Augustine had some as young as second years who qualified. All of their third years and higher were there, though. Dahshur's students started older too but they only had 5 years of schooling, which meant that each year was very intense for the students. They would have to do a lot of extra studying to keep up this year as the Firenze curriculum was lacking in comparison.
It was midday and time for lunch. Once everyone got into the Dining Hall, the Headmaster turned to everyone. "For this meal only, everyone can sit at whatever table you'd like, so you can all get to know each other better! But at dinner, we will go back to our usual seating." The last two tables were for the additional students, though, so their Headmasters/Headmistresses could figure out what they wanted to do there, if they wanted to mingle or keep to a certain table usually. The Headmaster didn't really mind what they did with the arrangements within those two tables as long as they didn't bother anyone. There were definitely more important things to think about.
Once every was settled, some House Elves brought in the food and put them on the table. It was mostly Italian food, but there was one dish from each culture that was there for the year. There were some chips for Britain, empanao for Brazil, some kababs from Egypt, roasted vegetables for Australia, and croque monsieur from France. But the majority of the food came from Italy: gnocchi, various soups, eggplant caprese, bruschetta, seafood and pasta, and some bread and olive oil as well.
Later on, the house elves would return with some dessert: gelato, biscotti, and tiramisu.

When transferring to Dahshur, Silvia had not realized participating in Dodeca would be an option. Nonetheless, she could not turn down the opportunity. She arrived at Firenze already knowing she would try to become one of her new school's champions. The competition would be a welcome distraction, and could even help her regain the sense of self-worth that got reduced so harshly back at Hogwarts.
She stayed with the members of her delegation, listening to their chatter - most of which was in Arabic, a language she was only just starting to comprehend - but not participating in it. The Firenze palace, though objectively attractive, was not to her liking. Being in a castle-like structure just reminded her of the past she would have preferred to forget.
Once at the dining hall, she sat at one of the tables - the one most of her schoolmates picked - and watched the proceedings. Socializing felt mandatory, as the whole event was about international friendship and cooperation... not to mention that she intended to represent Dahshur, even though she had barely just started studying there. She glanced about, looking for unfamiliar faces she could make familiar.

Ares was sitting at his main table he usually sat, with quite a few of his friends. But people were all over the place tonight. After all the students arrived, it was a little chaotic. Ares would be glad when they sat at their own designated tables starting tomorrow and they could have the Ashwinder table back to themselves. Although... There was someone nearby who wasn't bad to look at.
Ares tapped with his fist on the shoulder of his friend beside him and gestured with his head to get the guy to switch with him so he would be beside her. From the looks of it, she was from the Egyptian school, but she didn't look at all Egyptian. "Buongiorno, bella," he greeted. "Come sta?" Hopefully by her answer, he could figure out what language she spoke. Maybe it was Arabic like the people around her, or maybe French, or something else.

Italian was not one of the four languages Silvia could speak fluently, but it was similar enough to Spanish and Portuguese for her to comprehend many of the words. When the Italian boy appeared next to her - she could have sworn somebody else had been sitting in his place just a moment ago - the blonde understood his greeting. It wasn't as if it required particular linguistic talent - the tone of voice and body language conveyed the meaning quite eloquently. While she was used to guys flirting with her, and expected as much when arriving in Italy, the part-Veela did not relish this type of interaction. Being addressed by an adjective about her appearance was fairly offputting, too.
Her first, rather childish idea was to pretend she spoke nothing but Arabic - few people here were likely to understand the tongue. The accent she currently had was fairly terrible, and the fair-skinned, fair-haired appearance might contradict it initially, but she could just keep playing dumb until the cavalier gave up... But then, her lie would be uncovered the moment she interacted with one of her own schoolmates; most of them spoke English with her, to make her life easier. Not to mention that she was meant to socialize and represent Dahshur. "Oh, sorry, I don't speak Italian," she replied, choosing to pretend that not a single syllable of the four words he uttered had gotten across. This was a chance for the boy to change direction a little. "I take it you're a local?" Her lips formed a friendly smile as she waited for the response.

Mathieu had settled in at one of the tables alongside a couple of his friends. They were speaking in rapid fire French as they took in their current surroundings. Food was brought out and it was dishes Mathieu was familiar with. After all, his family had vacationed in Italy more than once. There was also croque monsieur but Mathieu wanted to try some of the dishes he wasn't actually familiar with first.

Tobias didn't relish the idea of someone else taking his belongings up. Everyone else seemed fine with it though so he couldn't do much about it. He just hoped his things wouldn't end up missing. There were so many students from all over that he could see it being plausible that things end up missorted. Oh well, he would deal with that if it arose.
He joined his schoolmates as they looked around at the school that was different than their own. It all felt so contained to Tobias with it not being built into trees or within a jungle like his own school was. It made his skin itch in an unpleasant way. It didn't help that he was already missing his darling pet Capuchin monkey.
Still, he was determined to have fun here. He would see what sort of wild space he could find for himself later. Settling at one of the tables, he caught sight of a blond girl that looked familiar. Where did he know her from? He couldn't quite put his finger on it but he did know he had seen her around before.
Ein had forgotten that the schools (and their students) for the Dodeca tournament were set to arrive that day. He had been looking over his lessons plans (though he had noted that there hadn't been many sign ups for his class honestly), and had forgotten of their arrival. It wasn't until there was a knock on his door that Ein remembered. Actually, he stared blankly for a moment before one of the other professors rolled their eyes and said, "Dodeca Tournament? The schools are arriving today."
"Oh. Right." he had responded lamely before he followed them down. He could take care of his plans later that evening. He could bring it up with the headmaster about standing in for a few other classes since his classes weren't full.
The wizard wracked his brain for what schools were arriving that year. Beauxbatons, Dahshur, Selveira, Augustine, and Xanadu.
Ah. Xanadu.
His alma matter. He wasn't sure if he'd know any of the students that would come this time. After all, he had graduated some years ago.
The pond was packed with students and staff alike. It was going to be quite a rowdy lunch.
[ooc: i finally got him to talk! *ahem* open for interaction]

His experience thus far at Firenze had been somewhat welcoming. He, like the other students here from different schools, was also eyeing out what the other students looked like. Not just from the host school but from the other schools. Calvin's black robes weren't as intricately designed as the others here. They were somewhat boring. Sure, they had a form of sleekness to it with his actual robes having a slight design but nothing like the vibrant colours some of these other schools had.
It was somewhat refreshing to go from an aircraft to a school. It felt in some aspects, open and breathable. " Free to sit wherever aye?" He shrugged his shoulders taking a seat next to someone who he had not yet met. In saying that, he hadn't met anyone really. " G'day. I'm Calvin. " He greeted as he tapped the side of his forehead near his left temple as if it were some form of salute.

Mathieu turned his attention to a boy that seemed to be speaking to him. Or rather he could have been speaking to all of them but Mathieu was the one to react first. Whichever the case might be, Mathieu smiled. "Nice to meet you, Calvin. I'm Mathieu," he said since the other had introduced himself. "A lovely school, isn't it?"

"Nice to meet you Matty boy. " He replied to the greeting in a very Australian way as he shortened his name followed by a nickname, " Yeah school alright aye. Nothing like the place where I'm from. " It was somewhat smaller yet bigger at the same time. Perhaps it was because he didn't know much about the school so the sense of curiosity over filled him. " Maybe we could go searching for stuff in the school if you're interested? A little adventure? "
