Roxanne had received a strange letter. It definitely was in English, but it made absolutely no sense. She needed someone to help decipher it. Maybe it wasn't even for her? But it did seem to be. Owls didn't normally deliver letters to the wrong person. Ken seemed like the perfect person. He was a Prefect like her - the head of them actually - and was rather smart as well.
She was walking towards Ravenclaw Tower when she saw him coming out of it. Hopefully he wasn't too busy. "Hey, Ken. Do you have a minute?" she asked, hoping he would have some time to help her.
Ken had been dragging his feet to find an empty classroom where he could study for his NEWTs. He had been busy with other duties and Quidditch practice earlier, but now that they were dealt with and all he had left to do was study, it was the last thing he felt like doing.
A welcome distraction appeared in the form of Roxanne Vogel. “Hey, Roxanne. Sure, what’s up?” Schoolbag dangling from one shoulder, he glanced down at the parchment she had. He hoped what she had to say wasn’t about another Gryffindor causing trouble - as much as he wanted to procrastinate, that could take hours to resolve, not just a minute.

There was a little alcove nearby so Roxanne led Ken over to there so they could sit and talk about it. "So I got this letter and.. it seems a little weird. I don't know, can you tell me what you think about it?" Roxanne passed him the letter and let him read it.
The owl caws at noon. Capricorn in the green custard. Venus is waiting for Jupiter. Twenty chimes, the cat waits.
Roxanne waited while Ken read the letter. "What do you think?" she asked, once it was clear he was done reading. "It was delivered to me at breakfast, so it must be for me, but it doesn't make sense."
Following the Gryffindor, Ken sat down and took the parchment handed to him hesitantly, for his initial assumption by the words “a weird letter” was that it would be an intimate or offensive message. But when he finished reading the short note, he understood that it truly could not be described as anything other than “weird”. “Nonsensical” or “foolish” could also be appropriate.
“Uh, Roxanne…” he blinked and began cautiously, “Do you know anybody who would prank you with what seems like a riddle, but is not? Any enemy who would like you to waste your time trying to solve it?”
