Inside the Potions room there was a formed Gryffindor discretely working on a potion he wasn't supposed to.
Reino knew he had no business sneaking off after dinner and working on this potion. If he would be successful it might open floodgates that would probably change the course of his life forever. And not for the better. It'd mean everything he knew was a lie and the people he loved had a hidden agenda. But there also was a change all his doubts would be cleared up and he could finally start his healing process.
While he was a good student and a hard worker, he was still just a teen and not an experienced potioner. Yet he also couldn't walk up to his Professor and ask them how to make a truth serum. He just had to do it by trial and error, during the time where most people were eating or getting ready for the night. He had hoped he'd be here on his own but that didn't seemed to be the case.

Silvia was growing quite desperate. After her initial luck with finding the first of three hints about the upcoming task, she had spent days upon days searching. Nothing showed up. Had the other hints been located by her opponents? It was possible, but she could not simply give up because of it.
Until now, she had avoided some of the riskier places. Boys' lavatories, Quidditch team locker rooms, some classrooms - the ones belonging to tetchy professors. Especially the Potions' professor, whose demeanour reminded her of Lilith Channing. Silvia doubted if an excuse of being a Dodeca champion in search of clues would spare her from his wrath, should he disapprove of her snooping around in the classroom. Given her unexpectedly high grades in Potions these past two terms, she did not feel particularly eager to antagonize the professor. He might just be the type to ruin a student's report card out of malice. She was rather enjoying her current reputation of a talented potioneer, and did not want it taken away.
Therefore, she slipped out of the dining hall the moment Professor Gatti arrived for supper, and headed for his classroom. She would investigate quickly and then depart - possibly without finding any hints, but at least relieved to remove another potential location from her list.
She had barely started poking around the classroom when she heard the door creak open. Her heart, having leapt to her throat at the sound, began settling back into its place when she realized it wasn't Gatti.
"Oh gosh, Reino, hi," she greeted him, feeling somewhat relieved it was him but still rather awkward to be discovered where she didn't belong. Best to just come clean. "Um-- I was just searching for clues about the next task. What are you up to?" Perhaps students were allowed to use this classroom after all, and she did her whole sneaky secret agent routine for nothing. Then again, if she had asked Gatti for a permission to explore and been denied, that would have been too final.

The best thing to do in this situation was to remain calm and pretend he was doing nothing wrong. Which was the approach he took. It helped that his face was generally considered void of emotions at all times. As he never truly learned how to express what he felt inside. His mother told him it was important to make sure people could never read you or get under your skin. That way you’d always have the upperhand. She sure should know considering she was a politician.
Then he'd just have to slowly clean up and make sure they couldn't connect what he was making. So the moment he heard a sound, he slid one of the ingredients in his sleeve. One less connection. But he couldn't hide a second as the person came into view.
He was somewhat relieved it wasn't a teacher. But it was someone that knew him. Someone who could connect the dots. Silvia Stirling fellow former Gryffindor. “Miss. Stirling… Ehm… Silvia?” He wasn't sure how she wanted him to call her. She called him by his first name but she was slightly older than he was so he should show respect right.
Oh yes, the tournament. The one he was supposed to compete in but turned in an empty sheet. After everything that happened with his sister, he just wasn't in the right headspace to solve riddles and duel. It was better to be shouted at just by his grandma for not getting selected than to disappoint his entire family and embarrass himself during the tasks. “How is that going? I'm rooting for you,” he said as something vaguely resembling a supportive smile tugged the corners of his lips. “Do you need help with that? I was just finishing up.” That was a lie and he was shocked how easily it slipped off his tongue. But it would be an easy way out of having to explain the potion. He'd just have to find another time to work on it SILVIA ODETTE STIRLING,

Despite the uncomfortable situation, Silvia had to laugh at Reino's trouble picking how to address her. "It's Silvia, unless you want me calling you Mister Korpiklaani," she teased. That was something a professor might address him as. Although, knowing how oddly mature and formal Reino was, perhaps he wouldn't even mind that. She, on the other hand, preferred using first names - at least when communicating to people she liked or even just tolerated. Surnames were for strangers and enemies, right?
"It's going great. I won the first task, and I already found one of the three clues..." Oh, she probably shouldn't have bragged. Reino might tell his new schoolmates that she'd found something. Or Chatri, or even Pepper. This tournament really felt like a Hogwarts transferee reunion... But perhaps she shouldn't worry; Reino did say he was rooting for her. "And thanks," she added, in case he really meant that he wanted her to win.
Reino caught her off-guard with his offer. Hearing his assurance, Silvia glanced at his work station. It didn't really look like he was finished with his brewing project. The cauldron didn't seem to contain a completed potion, nor were there any remnants of chopped or ground ingredient pieces. Was he just uncomfortable having an audience while he tried making an unfamiliar potion? She wasn't sure if she should bring this up or not... And his offer still needed responding to. "Um, sure, I could use help," she replied after a pause. The doubt blossomed right after she spoke; was she allowed to accept help? What if the champions were meant to search the school all on their own? But no such rule had been mentioned. For all she knew, the other champions had their entire delegations searching every room for tournament clues. "I don't really know how or where to look, though. I have a key and a flag, and I'm just searching for places they might fit..." Shrugging to indicate she was at a loss, Silvia took out the items she had mentioned and laid them out on a table.
An idea struck her then. "You know, I'm pretty good at potions... after we finish searching, we could practice brewing together, if you need help?" She had to return the favour somehow, after all. Her newly discovered gift for potions might as well be used for that, if Reino wanted to do some extracurricular brrwing experiments.

Reino was considering it but he figured from the way she spoke she wanted to be on a first name basis. “I'll try my best to call you by your first name. Don't hesitate to correct me when I make a mistake,” he made a tiny nod. Well it was time to practice wasn't it. “S-Sil .. Silvia.” It still sounded a bit strange but he would get used to it in time.
“I saw, you were magnificent,” he said as the corners of his lips crooked forming a small smile. Of course he was supposed to root for his own school but having shared Quidditch games on the same team as Silvia, he couldn't help it.
It wasn't like Reino to instigate a social activity together. He figured that Syl probably knew that about him. She didn't sound that convinced when she allowed him to join in the scavenger hunt. He took a glance at the items on the table. “A flag? Well I'd say either flagpole or statue that looks like it's holding something. But you'd think there is more to it than that. Keys usually go into keyholes. But you probably thought of all that yourself already.” Was he thinking too logically?
The hairs on his neck stood up at the suggestion of working on the potion together. How was he going to talk himself out of this one? Talking wasn't really his prime skill. “Uh.. well I enjoy spending time with you but- I don't think- What I'm trying to say is-” not really smooth, Reino.

She pressed her lips together, fighting a smile as Reino stuttered out her name. Although his awkwardness was sometimes contagious and made her feel embarrassed as well, there were occasions when it was also amusing.
The smile did finally break through when he rated her performance in the first task as 'magnificent'. "Thank you. I just hope I can remain so for the rest of the tournament." Hence the whole search for clues - she wanted to have an edge against her opponents. Simply getting a headstart for the next task wasn't enough.
As Reino began going through possible places where to fit the clues, she nodded eagerly. Most of them had already crossed her mind and been tried out. "I don't think there are many keyholes in this palace I haven't tried sticking the key in," she chuckled, carefully circling the fact that she already found a clue using the key. "I've looked for spots to place the flag, too. Also attempted to just wave it around..." People waved flags, after all. Only, it didn't do her any good. She'd ceased trying that after a couple of younger students spotted her and stared like she was crazy. "Mostly, I just try to comb each room thoroughly. There could be some hidden alcove that isn't immediately obvious. Oh, and I've cast Specialis Revelio about a thousand times by now, but none of the enchantments I found around Firenze had anything to do with the tournament."
While her former housemate stumbled in search of a non-offensive way to decline the offer, Silvia felt a little chagrined. She'd made him uncomfortable while trying to repay for his aid - that was worse than not trying to repay at all. Did she offend him by assuming he needed help? "Um, never mind... it was just an idea. You're helping me search for clues, and-- Well, it's just very nice of you..." The awkwardness was catching.

He felt his cheeks glow when he managed to say her name. Reino scratched his chin with his index finger, knowing he’d have to practice her name. Would he get another chance to say it smoothly before she’d depart to Dahshur? He hoped so.
The former Gryffindor smiled as she confirmed she had already tried the obvious places. Of course she had. “Have you tried charging it into battle,” he attempted to joke but his serious nature almost made it sound like a suggestion instead. “I wish I knew the ways around this castle but I’m afraid this place is as new to me as it is to you,” he sighed. “Perhaps we should explore it now we have a good reason to.” He wanted her to win of course but it was also a chance to spend more time together. She had been there for him when he got the letter from home about his sister’s passing, it had meant a lot to him.
“I don’t need anything in return. Spending time with you is enough for me,” he said with something resembling a smile as he cleaned up his station. “I still wanted to thank you for being there when I- You know… So being able to do this for you makes me happy. I probably won't be much of a help anyways.” Reino would use this opportunity of exploring the castle to find a place where he could brew undisturbed.
