Nona was just asking Orla a question when suddenly there was chaos. Someone set off a dungbomb in the middle of the Entrance Hall! It smelled nasty and anyone else there quickly ran away. Whoever did it would surely get detention. While Nona was just a first year, Orla thought she could help by remembering who was there with them, at the very least.

Nona wasn't even halfway through her question - "Excuse me, do you know where-" - before the dungbomb dropped and everyone scattered. At first Nona wasn't sure what it was, but then the awful smell hit, and she became exceedingly aware of the dung aspect of a dungbomb. Still, she was firmly rooted to the ground, staring helplessly at the older prefect she had approached to ask for directions. Nona hardly knew any magic yet, and even if she did, she wouldn't trust her ability to use it. Besides, she wasn't sure if odour-dispelling magic was on the curriculum for first year; it didn't seem like a core skill, at least not until you needed it. Maybe the prefect would know what to do?
Nona clasped her hand over her face so it was covering her nose and mouth, trying not to inhale unless she really needed to. Everyone had vanished, including whoever was responsible. Who plays a prank like that? Wanting to see people suffer was one thing, but running away before you could even witness the aftermath...there was no point in that. Then again, they were likely trying to avoid detention, and that left Nona and her house's prefect as the two main suspects, which didn't bode well for Nona. Bracing herself, she loosened the press of her hand just long enough to say, "Did you...eurgh...see who it was?" If there was someone else to blame, maybe Nona could save her reputation from being tarnished in her very first year.
