It was March and exams were a fair amount away but they still had tests and essays to work on. There was reason to study. But Blaise didn't want to. He so wished they had an impromptu Quidditch practice on this Tuesday evening but unfortunately they didn't and he didn't have any excuse not to do his schoolwork.
He wasn't always opposed to schoolwork. Of course, his mum would have a fit, as a former professor and the Headmistress. But some days he just really wasn't in the mood for it. Unfortunately all his friends were busy or studying anyway, so he might as well.
Ella was already sitting in one of the sofas by the fire with her study materials but Blaise had to go up to his dormitory to get some things. He came back with a few books and some parchment, ink, and a quill.
"Okay, let's get started then," he tried to say enthusiastically to himself to get himself in the mood for studying but it wasn't working like he hoped it would.
He got out a Potions textbook and started to read up on some of the properties of some ingredients.

It was just another regular Tuesday evening and Ella was already cozy in her favourite study spot by the fire, surrounded by a number of textbooks for her various classes. She was, for the most part, up to date on her homework, but she refused to fall behind and so was currently working on a star chart for Astronomy due the following week. Moon was sleeping soundly on the couch’s arm, making little chirping sounds every so often. It was quite simply a cozy night for Ella, practically perfect, save for the fact that her friends were missing.
As if on cue she noticed Blaise coming down from his dormitory with his books and she waved him over, moving over some of her books to make room for him next to her. The fireplaces were the most coveted spots in the common room, and so she had made a point that evening to get settled early and save some extra spots for Ezra and Blaise.
Ella peered over at Blaise to see what he was working on, noticing he had his potions textbook open. “Oh! You’re onto potions! Does that mean you finally finished the Charms paper due tomorrow?” He had been struggling with it over the past week, or at the very least struggling with the motivation to write it, so Ella was thrilled to see he was working on something else, assuming that meant it had been completed earlier.
