It had been an accident. Ilona cursed herself for being so careless, but she’d just been so focused on her book, trying to prepare for their upcoming Muggle Studies exam that day, that she hadn’t even noticed where she’d been walking. One moment she was walking through the halls, nose stuck in a book, navigating the well known route between Wizarding Literature class and the Great Hall, and the next she found herself knee deep in water. Looking down, she realized she’d stepped right into the damned magical swamp on the third floor.
She scrunched her nose in disgust and swore internally. Why did they even have such hazards inside of a school? She tried to step forward to get out of the water, but found her feet stuck in what felt like mud. This time she cursed out loud. She looked around, but the halls around her were empty, most students having already gone down for lunch. There was no telling how long it would be before somebody walked by this area.

Taking this corridor around Hogwarts was known as a huge risk considering what was actually around here. It was broad daylight and Levi was in the middle of his 5000 steps a dayathon contest he was running with himself when he found himself on the risky level. " Do I or don't I?" He questioned as he paused just before turning the corner to the magical swap where the senior Slytherins would often push the juniors in. Levi was no angel either having joined in pushing or being pushed in during his first years.
He shrugged his shoulders as he turned a corner to find himself in the magical swap where another student was. "What are you doing there?" He asked confused as to why there was a student in the swap. " Is this like something you do in your free time?"

Ilona rolled her eyes at the inane question. Of course the first person who came by to witness her embarrassment had to be a smart alek Ravenclaw. She thought Ravenclaws were supposed to be intelligent, but obviously that was false if this student thought she would willingly wade through the swamp in her free time. “I’m stuck,” she replied bluntly. “Whoever created this swamp must have done something to the ground to trap unsuspecting people who wander into it. Could you please help me out?” She held her hand out, hoping the boy would take the hint and pull her out of this mess, instead of continuing to make ridiculous assumptions.

The ever curious Levi looked at the girl with a confused look on his face contemplating thoughts in his mind as he looked around and back at the girl, the swap, his watch and back to the girl. "Why did you get stuck? Did you fall in?" It was almost as if Levi were antagonising her with his comments. It wasn't intentional but purely academic. " It must be some sort of prank or something." He further added as he looked at her, the swap, his watch and the girl's hand. Reaching out, he grasped the girl's hand and tried to pull it to no luck. " Seems like you are stuck. Maybe you ought to remove the swap first? But it might remove you too in the process...."

Ilona was regretting her inattention more and more as the Ravenclaw kept on talking, asking more unnecessary questions. It was bad enough she was stuck there, but now she was also stuck listening to that idiot prattle on. “No. If you must know, I was reading, and wasn’t paying attention to where I was going,” she answered tersely, trying to remain calm so as not to insult the boy into leaving. At this moment he was the only one capable of helping her out, as infuriating as he may be.
Finally he attempted to pull her out, only to be unsuccessful. Ilona groaned audibly, not just at her predicament, but also at the Ravenclaw’s very unhelpful advice. “Oh yes, I will just remove a swamp that has been here for decades,” she responded sarcastically, hands placed on her hips as she glared at the Ravenclaw incredulously. “If the professors have been unable to remove the swamp after all these years, what makes you think I could do it as a student?” Returning her attention to her current predicament, she began pulling at her legs in frustration, hoping somehow they would release from the muddy bottom. Even just a bit of movement would give her some hope. “Ugh. There. must. be. some. way. to - ahh!” As she punctuated her sentence with her attempts to free her limbs, her feet suddenly came loose with a pop, sending Ilona reeling forward straight into the Ravenclaw boy with a shout.

" Ahh, it's not wise to read and walk at the same time." He responded with a friendly smile on his face now arguably more annoying as ever which was pretty evident by the half smile Levi was holding back. " Trust me, I've walked into a wall once or twice too many times to know that reading isn't safe while walking. " Perhaps now Levi was trying his best to actually be annoying considering he wasn't exactly hiding it from from the girl anymore.
His attempts at pulling the girl out of the swamp was as futile and this probably caused the girl to get even more upset. " I've done my best I guess... " he turned around as he prepared to summon a Professor when the girl's body somehow managed to dislodge herself as she landed on top of his back with Levi on the floor.
" Well this will make for an interesting story to tell one day. " He replied with a little giggle as he rolled about trying to think about removing the swap himself. " The swamp must be some sort of ancient magic thing or just someone who's really good at pranks. " he added shrugging his shoulders as he lay on the floor with his buttock pressed against the cold and damp floor.

Ilona wondered if running into walls while reading was the cause of this boy’s apparent mental deficiency. “That would explain a lot,” she grumbled under her breath. That was the only explanation she would find for why a Ravenclaw student would be asking such inane questions instead of helping her. Unless the house was becoming more lax on its admission standards. Of all people to stumble across her in this predicament, apparently she had somehow gotten the most useless, and she was almost glad when he started to walk away, leaving her to figure out her own escape.
That didn’t last long as she quickly found herself on the floor on top of him. She landed with a groan, the wind knocked out of her as her ribs found his elbow in their fall. She rolled off of him and sat on the floor doubled over, trying to catch her breath, simply glaring at him as he kept making pointless commentary. “Do you ever stop talking?” She spat out in between breaths.

" It may explain a lot. " He responded while nodding his head in agreement before letting out a rather sarcastic comment. " Yet isn't it funny that despite running into walls, I've never found myself in the enchanted swamp. " A cheeky smile appearing on his face feeling a sense of achievement with his sentence. Rolling about, Levi wiped off the dust and dirt from his robes as he frowned slightly. " Hmm seems this needs a wash now. " He simply added before looking back at the girl.
" If I were to stop talking..." He replied pausing for a second to process what she was saying. " If I were to stop talking then you would have no one to talk too in this present moment in which you've found yourself stuck in the swamp but now no longer stuck in the swamp and freed however you did end up on top of me. " Despite being sometimes an awkward person, Levi's sentence had found him even confused about what he was saying.
" Were your legs like discombobulated or something when you ended up in the swamp or what not?"

At this point Ilona knew this boy was just messing with her and making fun of her predicament, thinking himself better than her. Her eyes narrowed into a glare, wishing she could push him into the swamp that moment, just to prove mister perfect wrong. She felt almost a sense of pride that he was moaning over his dirty robes, although glancing down at her legs, he was not nearly as dirty as she was.
Her black boots were absolutely covered in mud, and it stretched all the way up her knee high socks. At this point, she probably wouldn’t make it to lunch since she would have to head back to her dorm to clean up and change. “Damn muggle studies,” she muttered, shooting a glare at her nearby textbook, the one she had been reading when she walked into the swamp, currently sitting on the floor nearby. “Stupid class. Don’t know why I even took it.”
Ilona listened to Levi’s rambling with a bit of a grimace, having a hard time following his train of thought, and honestly just upset that he was still talking, until he said one thing that caught her attention. “Whoa, wait a moment. I did not end up on top of you,” Ilona quickly corrected, not liking the wording he used. It was like he was trying to imply something else. “I got myself out of the mud, no thanks to you, and I lost my balance. That was it.” She quickly stood up, brushing off her robes, although she knew it was a lost cause. She did not want anybody to come across them on the floor and think anything like that, particularly after that comment of his.
“Are you daft?” She replied, surprised at his next question. This boy was confusing the hell out of Ilona, and she did not like it. “No, I told you, I was just distracted. Reading. I got stuck in the mud.” She reiterated, feeling like she was speaking with a child. She gave him a questioning look. She could not get a read on this guy, and it was driving her mad. “Okay, let’s be straight up. What is your problem? Are you a bit… dumb, or is this all an act?” She couldn’t tell if he was genuinely just an awkward person who did not think before they spoke, or if he purposefully did it to confuse and annoy her out of some sick enjoyment. And people thought Slytherin were the mean ones.

It was all fun and games for the young Ravenclaw seemingly acting out of character. He aimed to act as if he wasn't the same intellectual being he was known to be. A small cheeky smile appeared on his face listening to just how the other girl spoke. It seemed his efforts to annoy the girl was all successful. An achievement that he was proud of no less.
" The study of non magical folk." He replied with a confused look on his fact as if it were the first time he had ever heard of the field of study. " It seems like an easy subject. " He replied confidently despite knowing that most pureblood wizarding families found this subject difficult if they were even to elect to enrol in the subject. His father had urged Levi to enrol in the subject stating that it was a bird course meaning that he would just fly through and pass. " Did your parents force you?" He asked in a normal tone somewhat offering a pinch of sympathy for her fellow swamp dweller.
" I suppose it doesn't matter that you landed on me or fell on me. " He replied shrugging his shoulders before looking over at the textbook the girl was reading. " Daft? No, I'm not cold nor do I feel a breeze?" He asked confused to what she was saying know dang well he heard daft rather than draft. " Did getting stuck in the swamp confuse you or something? I am a Ravenclaw, maybe you drank a bad potion? " He asked sounding quite condescending in his tone and words.

Ilona almost had to laugh at the idea that her parents forced her to take muggle studies, cracking her first smile since she’d come across the Ravenclaw boy. “No, definitely not,” she answered, the tension dissipating for a moment. “I think they’d have my head if they ever knew.” The thought almost brought a bit of glee to Ilona. The idea of upsetting her parents in such a way, going against their very strongly held beliefs. Just imagining her mother’s face caused a bark of laughter to slip out of her mouth, although she quickly clamped it back shut, stifling the rest of her giggles.
Her momentary bout of joy was quickly squashed by the Ravenclaw’s mouth opening once more, spouting even more nonsense. She rolled her eyes as he proudly named his house, not appreciating his condescending tone of voice. “Hence my question,” she stated purposefully. “If you are truly a Ravenclaw, this must be some elaborate act, although for what purpose I do not know. No Ravenclaw could simply be this stupid.” She made sure to add extra emphasis on the last word, truly exasperated at that point by the bounds of his idiocy thus far. “So, what is it? Are you just being an arse out of sheer boredom? Or should we ask the Sorting Hat to re-sort you, since the Scarf clearly made a mistake the first time.”
Hands on hips, eyebrows raised, she stared at the boy, waiting for him to answer her. She fully expected some kind of smartass comment, but she hoped at the very least to get some genuine reaction from calling him out so directly. “Oh, also, a draft is a breeze. Daft is an adjective for someone who is a bit… simpleminded.” She explained this all slowly, as if she were speaking with a young child, emphasizing the last word in a mock whisper, making it abundantly clear that was exactly what she was implying he was. Or at least, that was how she was acting, and by this point Ilona was pretty convinced he was just an arse playing a part.
TAGGED: LEVI HILFIGER Notes: such opposite interactions between our different characters, eh? haha

The Ravenclaw boy was speaking in what almost sounded like riddles during his interaction with the swamp girl which made for quite the amusing experience. Levi was simply seeing how far he could get with messing around with her before she would lose her temper. A rather sadistic form of amusement some would say.
" Ahh yes. " He agreed nodding his head to what she had said. " It must be so hard to learn about how non-magical people work. Like, having to use a bus or god forbid they have to walk right?" His comments sounding even more sarcastic as ever with a slight sense of condescension to his words laughing at how some people chose to study the world of the non-magical world. Levi too also elected to do this subject however he found it rather boring to an extent.
Childishly, Levi shrugged his shoulders when he was questioned about his intelligence. " Oopsie, I dunno answer to that one. Is it square? " He replied in a baby like tone sticking his tounge out at the end of his sentence to really test the girl's patience. He finally dropped the childish non-intelligent act when the girl corrected him.
" Ah, so you're not an idiot savant then. " He said speaking normally as he crossed his arms. " So if you're able to comprehend words and even correct very obvious mistakes, then why and how did you manage to not look around you before falling into the swamp?" He finally questioned as he dropped the mic with his question. " My intelligence is not a reflection of my actions however, I'm smart enough to know not to walk into an enchanted swamp."

All Ilona could do was roll her eyes at the boy’s childish behaviour. If it wasn’t obvious before, it was definitely obvious now that he was mocking her, speaking to her like a child and answering her question in such an inane way. Her blood was boiling, but she refused to lose her cool. That would simply be giving him what he wanted, and that simply would not do. So she simply remained quiet, using her facial expressions to show her distaste at the current conversation and his insistence on acting like a complete moron for the sake of this joke, or whatever it was.
However, she couldn’t stop the loud laugh that erupted from her mouth as he questioned why she would be so stupid as to walk into the swamp. “Says the boy who just admitted to walking into walls while reading. Multiple times.” His arrogance was frustrating, but she had almost come to expect such behaviour from Ravenclaws. They always believed themselves to be smarter than the rest. Hypocrisy, on the other hand? Particularly as a means to insult her intelligence? That would not fly.
At that point, Ilona didn’t even know why she was still standing there arguing with this boy. Time was ticking by, and she only had so much time to get changed before her next class, especially if she hoped to grab something to eat before the end of lunch. “Look, thank you for your attempt to help, as unhelpful as it was. You may be content to dawdle in the halls between classes, but I actually have places to be, so if you’ll excuse me.” With that she turned away and continued heading down the hallway towards the nearest stairs. If she used a few hidden passageways, she may have just enough time to get changed, eat, and study before her next class.
