Lia is looking to find her father!
She is born from a one night stand between a wizard and a muggle, and never knew her father, so she grew up basically around her muggle family exclusively. Her mother was quite young when she got pregnant (19 years old), but the father could be older, as long as the age gap isn't unrealistic. Lia is 13 now, and her mother would be 32.
I never gave this man a name or anything, so it could be a new character or could be an existing character, as long as they have some kind of magical lineage. I think it would be interesting if her father was pureblood, particularly from a line of proud blood purists, but I'm open to any and all blood statuses.
So far, her mother has been saying that she doesn't remember the man or his name, but that could all be a lie. I am open to any ideas in terms of the history between Lia's parents (whether it was just a one night stand or something more), and how to get Lia to find and meet her father. If you have any interesting plot ideas, feel free to reply to this thread, or send me a message!

I have DORIAN GARETH PAYNE, he's a pureblood and comes from a line of proud purists. Dorian and Lia's mother could have had a one night stand. I don't really have any ideas about how she'd find and meet her father, though.

Sounds like the kind of father figure I was hoping to find for Lia. As for how they meet, it could be as simple as Lia's mother lying to her all those years about knowing his name.
My original idea for the backstory was that Lia's mom worked in a pub in London, and the wizard was a semi-regular at the pub that she slept with once. After she got pregnant she moved back home to Cornwall to have her baby and never saw him again. So in that case, perhaps she does remember his name, and face, but doesn't know anything else about him, and he wouldn't know about Lia.
So what we could do is, during the summer, Lia finds out the name of her father, spends the summer trying to look him up in muggle libraries but finds no results. So once the school year starts she begins looking for any record of his last name in wizard books. Especially if he's a pureblood, I'm sure his family name would appear in a record or historical book of some kind, and she finds him that way?
Let me know if that works for you, or if you have any alternate ideas that could work better for his character.

That sounds like a good idea for them to meet, maybe her mother lied about his name because she knew his family wouldn't accept Lia, something like that?
Good idea, he could certainly have been a semi-regular at the bar, he did live in London for a while. Maybe Lia's mother reminded Dorian of his wife? he murdered his wife, he loved her dearly and she betrayed him, he found her with her lover in their bed and he killed them both in a fit of rage. He did mourn his wife, so maybe Lia's mother reminded him of her, that's how they ended up sleeping together, one night? Yes, 'course she can just remember him by name and face, she doesn't have to know he's a wizard, maybe she just knew/thought he belonged to a wealthy family? So she thought either Dorian or his family wouldn't accept Lia.
Yes, that works too. Lia figures out her father is a wizard, when she doesn't find any records of him in the muggle archives/libraries. Yes, he's a pureblood, his family is wealthy and he comes from a long line of purists with a few dark wizards in the family tree here and there, so yes his family name should occur there, yes that will work well.
That's all I can think of for now. What do you think? Got any other ideas?

Awesome, that all works for me, and seems like we're on the same page. So what we can do is I'll start an owl letter thread a few months or so into the new term, where Lia introduces herself to him and explains the situation, and we can play it out from there.
