It was the first day back at Hogwarts. All the students and their parents were at the train station sending them off to school. After the events of the previous term, it had been quite an interesting first year for many of the students. For seven of them in particular, they got in a duel with an adult witch and lived to tell the tale! Though it wasn't something they liked to talk about for the most part. Usually they shied away from talking about it because at the end of last term, a lot of people were asking once the rumours starting circulating.
But now they would be returning for their second year along with everyone else! The graduates were gone, trying to sort out their adult lives, and there were brand new first years to grace the halls of Hogwarts. All in all, they were looking forward to seeing their friends, maybe even making some new ones, and just having a normal year at Hogwarts again where there weren't any professors with ulterior motives and no one was in danger.
Once the students were able to pry away from their parents, they got onto the train and found a compartment with their luggage. It was a long journey to Hogwarts from London, but they had good conversation and sweets to help the time go by quickly.
((Four people to a compartment unless you're just walking by and saying hi!))

It was finally time for Hogwarts again and this time, Blaise yet again begged his mum to let him ride the train. They lived walking distance from the castle and Eliza would have to be there as well. Sirius offered to take him to London for the day, though, so they had a day of it and then he sent him off on the train with everyone else.
He just had a backpack with him for things he might need on the train, but the rest of his luggage was already at the castle.
Blaise got onto the train after saying goodbye to his... well, he wasn't sure what to call him. But he said goodbye to him nonetheless. And then he went about the task of trying to find his friends. He hoped to see Dustin and Thalia especially!
((Currently looking into various compartments until he spots one of his friends.))

The journey to Hogwarts this year felt rather different for the young Ravenclaw. For one, he was selected as a prefect this year. A role he had always wanted and he knew that Ken would be quite proud of him considering they did have a conversation just last schooling year where he expressed his interest in the role.
The second part was that during the break, he had managed to spend more time with his parents than normal. If anything, he actually volunteered to spend more time with them to get to know the so called family business. He knew things would be different this year and as he settled into Compartment 5, he knew that this would be a bright year.
Had had been exploring different types of Magic with his father with some questionable formats which he couldn’t wait to tell Julian about.Another thing he was excited about was to see the school staff change. Who would be teaching who and who would be in his classes. It seemed like it was going to be an interesting year.
- Open for interaction. - Seated in compartment 5.
Inksuk was happy riding the train. Living in Hogsmeade, it didn't make sense for her to take it. She could walk to Hogsmeade Station and meet the train, much faster than heading to King's Cross and riding the train back. It was all because of Miss Burke and some other Hogsmeade villagers. In her first tear, they'd taken turns explaining to her halmeoni that riding the train to Hogwarts was a rite of passage. It was a small bit of independence, and it helped her meet people before she'd been sorted. The older woman had been convinced, and since Insuk enjoyed it so much, she'd promised to let her ride it every year.
This year, she went to King's Cross with some other kids by portkey. It allowed them to travel as a group, save time, and meant her halmeoni didn't need to take time off to come with her. Travelling by portkey wasn't ideal. The tugging and swirling made her feel icky, and from the green face of the older boy next to her, she wasn't the only one. But, the Portkey was better than not riding the train at all, so she decided to ignore it.
She parted ways with the other group members and boarded the train. Not picky about where she sat, she went into the first compartment she saw. Inside she took out her pencil case and a book from her parents and put her trunk away.

The start of another year at Hogwarts had Ella buzzing with excitement. She could not wait to get back to the school, see all of her friends again, and most importantly practice magic. It had been difficult not being able to use magic all summer, and Ella was itching to get back to classes and learn more.
Her family had arrived relatively early to the train. Her mother was already at the school, getting the library reading for the new arrivals, and her dad had an early meeting that day, so they were some of the first to arrive. Due to this, Ella had her pick of compartments, and promptly took a spot in Compartment 3, hoping to reserve the seats for her friends. She left the door open, hoping to catch some of them as they entered the train. Dustin didn’t stay with her long, heading off to find friends or whatnot, so she found herself alone.
Not a problem. She took out her latest novel and began reading. It was a period romance between a witch and a muggle set in the Victorian Era, and Ella had been devouring its contents over the past few days. Oh how she wished for such an epic romance, one with such passion and depth of emotion. Of course she was only twelve, so that would probably not happen for several years.
She could hear more and more students entering the train as she read, glancing up every so often in search of any familiar faces. Finally she noticed someone she knew walking by and waved them down, “Hey! Blaise! In here. I claimed a compartment for us.” Blaise had quickly become one of her closest friends over the last year - although that was probably not surprising considering all the near-death situations they’d gotten themselves in their first year. The previous year had been… eventful, to say the least, and had definitely tested her abilities thus far. She was hoping for a quieter year, although she had a feeling with friends like hers, that was more wistful thinking.
Post by THALIA BURKE on Apr 1, 2024 14:33:38 GMT -5
After saying goodbye to her mother, sister and baby brother, Thalia climbed into the train eagerly. Dad was already at Hogwarts, having simply Apparated to Hogsmeade earlier this morning - which was perfect, because he might have decided to check in on her if he was on the Hogwarts Express. After the events at the end of last term (which Thalia had masterfully twisted to sound like she was with Ella and Dustin, and Blaise simply happened to be there), Pansy had recently reiterated her prohibition of befriending the Headmistress' son, and Thalia didn't feel like getting caught quite so early in the term. Perhaps Dad wouldn't tell on her, but she couldn't know for sure.
She checked to make sure Mother was already gone before heading down along the row of compartments, looking for one of her friends. Finding Blaise was preferable, but she also wanted to spend some more time with Meredith. If she could dedicate the train trip to telling the new transfer student about Slytherin greatness, they would certainly end up being housemates. The Hat took students' desires into consideration, and she was sure Meredith had the right personality for Slytherin... or Ravenclaw. Making her prefer the former before the Sorting started was on Thalia's agenda for today.
The familiar voice of her favourite cousin drifted from a nearby compartment. Ella was calling out to Blaise, whom Thalia spotted as she turned to look. "Hello, you two!" she exclaimed, hoping to be heard over the chatter as she weaved her way through the other passengers to reach her friends. First things first; she pulled her cousin into a hug. "Ella, I've missed you so!" Turning to Blaise, she hugged him too - though a bit more awkwardly. "And you! Sorry I didn't write much, our owl was sick and that's the only one we have..." They did only have one owl, and Dad had taken it to Magical Menagerie for some tonic back in July, but it was perfectly healthy and capable of delivering mail. Thalia simply didn't dare to have an active correspondence with Blaise, because her mother would have found out. To give her lie some credibility, she even avoided writing to Ezra, Ella and Dustin - only a few letters each, carefully spaced so she would be getting at least some letters from friends every other week.
To change the topic, she looked around the compartment. "Has Dustin claimed a seat here?" It was only too likely that he would be wanting to travel with his twin sister, which meant that if Thalia joined them, there wouldn't be enough space for Meredith. Oh, what to do now? Could she somehow divide her time?

Blaise was looking in various compartments until he saw someone in his year. Luckily it ended up being one of his best friends, Ella. "Hey, Ella!" he exclaimed as he got inside with his backpack. He put it on the seat beside him before taking a seat there himself. "How's it going?" Of course, they talked a bunch during the summer. It wasn't like he hadn't talked to her at all in months. But that would be the case with many of his classmates.
Then came Thalia. Blaise was excited to see her too. They weren't really supposed to talk, but after their discussion last year about it, he decided that rule was stupid. But he also didn't see any need to bring her up all the time to his mum anyway. She must have known they did talk sometimes because of the events in June, but she had been too busy worrying about what happened to worry about the fact that Thalia had been there. At least, she never mentioned it. Though maybe it was fine that they were in a large group together at the time. Maybe she just didn't want him to be alone with her. Though he didn't know why that would be. It's not like she would be dangerous and might hurt him or something. He couldn't think of any other reason being alone together might be a bad thing to his mum.
Thalia hugged him and it was nice, albeit a little awkward. Was it awkward because it was nice? Well it definitely wasn't nice because it was awkward.
"It's okay. I hope your owl is doing better!" That sucked they couldn't get another owl or borrow one from someone. Couldn't they just go to the post office? Oh, well. Maybe her parents didn't want to do that just so she could write to her friends. They didn't seem all that nice. But Thalia was different. Blaise wasn't ashamed to be Eliza's son at all. She was great! But he was learning that it wasn't the same for everyone and some people were better than their parents and shouldn't be judged for what their parents did.
"Oh, uh, not yet." Blaise stood up and peaked out the compartment to see if he could see him in the corridor. "No, not yet." They did have many friends so there might not be room for Dustin if someone else came. It wouldn't make sense to kick someone out just because Dustin arrived. But even if that happened, they would see each other at the castle. Though it did suck that Dustin was in a different House, so they couldn't even sit together at the feast.
"How was your summer, though?" Blaise asked. Since they really didn't get to talking the summer, it was a far more valid question for Thalia than Ella. Blaise started to pull out something from his backpack as he spoke. It was some strawberries his mum packed. There were more desert things as well, but at least strawberries were good. He wanted to eat them first before getting into the sweets later!

The blonde was very nervous about going so far from her family. She'd never been away from home for that length of time. Hogwarts, she heard of the beautiful wonders it held but she was scared to be all alone with so many new people. She really didn't know anyone either, which made matters scarier. Entering the train, she swallowed, making her way down the main hall she passed several compartments. She didn't want to sit in the first one, even though it was empty, it was too close to the front, so she kept walking. Smiling shyly at people as she passed until she stopped at Compartment 6. "Here we go." It was empty and past everyone else but still close enough that she didn't feel too alone. "Right in the middle." Smiling, she had a small sack with her that had a few treats and some galleons along with some activities. Setting her things all down on the seat next to her, she pulled out a chocolate frog and started reading the packaging and looking at it. She loved all the little cards, she kept them religiously. There were still several she needed to collect.

" Defs not in Sydney no more." He whispered as he walked through the passage way thinking how silly it was to walk into a solid wall yet he did exactly just that. He was surprised the non-magics didn't notice a bunch of students go running through the walls at the train station. It wasn't exactly the most common thing to see.
Boarding the train was quite the experience. Adults splayed about waving good bye to their children and some even crying one of them even doing that ugly cry with the snot running down their nose. It was hilarious in some cases. Calvin was too interested in getting on the train that he even ignored the screaming mother saying goodbye to their children.
Upon board, he walked through multiple carriages and compartments wondering if things were going to be separated by year, house or blood status yet it was interesting to see everyone just picking things at random. Walking past a few compartments, he found himself temporarily stopped where a few others were already occupying.
" Apologies for the disturbance." He greeted with his Australian accent. " Do we just pick any random compartment to stay in?" He asked not really concerned about what the others would say or react. He was just that type of guy.

Stepping onto the train, Noah was grateful Ms. Burke had hugged him, twice, and then run off to talk to some of the other kids. He’d needed the hug just as much as he’d needed her to leave quickly. If she hadn’t, he was sure he would have embarrassed himself and asked her to come with him. She’d always told him Hogwarts was the next step to discovering who he was. To be honest, he didn’t know what that meant. He was just happy he’d finally get to use his new wand.
Walking through the train, he stopped outside a compartment with a girl and her chocolate frog. Good enough. “Hey, is it okay if I sit in here?” He tossed his bag onto the seat and sat across from the girl willing to leave if she asked him to. It was a long train ride, and he didn’t want to be stuck with someone who didn’t want him there.
“Are you a first year too?” He didn’t see any of the Hogwarts house colours or crests, but he couldn’t be sure. She looked his age, or at least close to it. She wasn’t one of the giant seventh years he’d passed on the way in and it was good enough for him.

Jung So Min was sad that the summer was over and it's time to go back to school, made it to the train station with her parents and gave both a hug goodbye. She stood in front of one of the doorways of the train, waved to her parents and got onto the train. Looks for an empty compartment, finds one and goes over inside. She sat over by the window, sat her bag and owl's cage next to her on the seat. Though she didn't want to leave, couldn't wait for her sixth year to start and going to enjoy it, since she would be leaving Hogwarts after the next year.
She goes into her bag, takes out a book and opens to the first page. She thought that she would read until the train left the station or if someone came into her compartment and then she would put her book away. She goes to the first chapter, thinking how this is the first time she has read it and starts to read.

Ella closed her book and put it back in her bag as Blaise joined her in the compartment. She was glad that he was still allowed to ride the train, despite living so close to the school. The train journey was always a fun time to spend with friends, and she had been looking forward to seeing all of her friends together again. She opened her mouth to answer, about to catch him up on her last few weeks - basically what had happened since her last letter - when Thalia wove her way through the crowded hallway to join them. It seemed most students had arrived by then and were now boarding the train. It probably wouldn’t be long until they departed.
She jumped up from her seat at the sight of her cousin, accepting the hug with open arms and reciprocating the gesture. “Thalia! I’ve missed you too!” She pulled away and sat back in her seat, letting the other two get reacquainted. “Oh no! I didn’t realize! Are they okay?” She asked, genuinely concerned for the poor creature. She absolutely hated imagining an animal in pain, and hoped the owl was making a full recovery.
“I wish you lived closer, then we could have seen each other much more frequently over the summer,” Ella lamented with a slight pout. While they were family, and there were ways for them to visit one another, living in different countries did have its drawbacks, even with the fast methods of wizard travel. She did not fully understand why they lived in London when her uncle worked at Hogwarts, but she was not one to question it, and she definitely did not wish to leave the lush Scottish countryside for the city.
Ella shook her head as Thalia asked about her brother. “No, I’m not quite sure where he is,” she answered with a shrug. “He said he was going to find some friends, and I haven’t seen him since.” She began to wonder if she should worry about her twin’s disappearance, but she didn’t feel too concerned at the moment. There were still many students embarking on the train, and perhaps he had simply settled with some other friends in a different compartment. Moving over slightly, she patted the seat next to her, inviting Thalia to join her. “So, since you deprived us of your letters all summer, tell us, what have you been up to the past few months?”
At that moment another student paused in front of their compartment, one Ella did not recognize. All she knew was he was older, and he was cute. “Um… yeah. You can pick any compartment you want,” she responded, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink. He looked like a character out of one of her romance novels, and the Australian accent only added to his attractiveness. Feeling embarrassed, she flashed him a polite smile and turned back to her friends, hoping he would move on to another compartment with students his own age and end her current ordeal.

After saying goodbye and hugging her parents, her sister and she got onto the train. It was her sister's first year at Hogwarts, promised her parents that she would have her sister with her and to be honest, she wished that she had one of her older siblings with her in her first year at Hogwarts. She noticed the first compartment was empty, decided to take this one and let her sister go inside first. Riko chose to sit across from her sister, since she likes to sit by the window and it is a good opportunity for her sister to start making friends with anyone who comes to sit in here. She sat down on the seat, put her bag on her lap and placed her owl's cage on the floor near her leg. She can't believe this is her last year at Hogwarts, feels bad that her sister will be alone at Hogwarts for the rest of the time she is there and is excited about starting the career path she has chosen.
As they wait for the train to depart from the station, thought she would tell her sister a little bit about Hogwarts and first tell her about the four different houses. After telling her sister about Hogwarts, looks out the window and other students are still outside.

Today was the big day - the start of her Hogwarts schooling. Olivia had woken before dawn, so eager to get going she couldn't fall asleep again. Even so, the family arrived at King's Cross only some fifteen minutes before the train's departure - Augustus hadn't packed the night before, and everyone had to wait for him.
At the platform, her brother seemed in a hurry to get out of Mother's embrace. Despite being just as eager to get into the train, Olivia hugged both of their parents twice and solemnly promised to write at least once a week. The two siblings then climbed into the nearest wagon and Augustus slipped into the compartment where one of his buddies sat.
"Do you want to ride with us?" he asked Olivia, managing to convey with his tone that he absolutely did not want her to.
Olivia grimaced. "Thanks, but I'm not sure I deserve this type of... honour. I'll tell Mother you offered, though." It was irritating to have a brother who avoided her company. Julian had been right, but she still didn't regret having defended Augustus. He was family first and foremost, even if he was a dunce second.
The girl turned on her heel and began moving along the narrow path, peeking into each compartment. Her parents had already Apparated away, and Augustus probably wouldn't leave his seat for a while. She had enough time to scout the area in search of her cousin. Having seen his photograph at their grandparents' manor, she was certain she could identify him in a crowd. Sharing a compartment would be unwise, but she could at least note his body language and hear his voice - that would already tell her if he was as thorny in life as he sounded on paper.
Now that she would be attending Hogwarts, Father had officially forbidden any contact with her cousin; claiming she thought it only applied to her brother wouldn't work. It wasn't going to stop her. If anything, it made the situation more interesting.
As she made her way along the corridor, pulling her heavy trunk along and occasionally brushing past other students, her dark eyes scanned the faces - to no avail. Was he even taking the train? A handful of students sometimes had their parents Floo or Apparate them straight to Hogsmeade, she'd heard. Oh, well. If she couldn't locate him, she would just look for other first-years and socialize.
Someone bumped into her trunk, causing Olivia to lose her grip on its handle. "Watch it, pipsqueak," an older boy barked.
She whirled around. The hostility did not intimidate her. "How about you watch it? You're the one walking behind me. I don't have eyes at the back of my head."
"I could give you a pair, if you keep talking back," the boy offered, producing a wand out of his pocket.
"A Transfiguration master, are you?" Olivia shot back, wavering only a little. Backing down may have been wise at this point, but she would rather sport ten extra eyes than show weakness on her first day of school.

Holly made it on time to the train back to Hogwarts with her family, she and her sister hugged their parents goodbye. They got onto the train, walked down the aisle until they found an empty spot and they went inside. Holly sat down by the window, her sister sat across from her and put her owl's cage down in front of her on the floor. She looked out the window for a second, put her bag on her lap and looked at her sister. She and her sister chatted with each other for a little bit about what they looked forward to this year and asked her sister if she was excited about her second year at Hogwarts, her sister nodded her head. After they talked, she pulled out a book from her bag and decided to read until the train left the station.
