August 2025, long introduction to this thread. Replies will be shorter. Note: Hope the set up is okay, if you guys want anything changed lmk The summer heat of August nights had Lewis tossing and turning. Even the trees were unable to keep the heat out. He glanced over the other kids in the children’s tent. Lisa, Ilona, Henry and Thomas all were there. The full moon had passed and the waning gibbous moon was in the night sky. His parents and the other werewolves were tired from their transformations. His father had gotten injured during the last hunt and Auntie Eula said he was recovering in his tent. Lewis was a little worried as his old man didn’t seem that well lately while he had always been in peak health. It didn’t really look like an illness more like he got poisoned. But who would want to poison his dad? He told himself to skim through the poisons chapter of his potions textbook tomorrow just in case. It could just be that he ate the wrong berry.
Little did Lewis know just how quick he was about to find out who exactly was trying to poison his father. ‘Make sure nobody screams, kill the Whelan children, let the others live.’ Lewis knew that voice. It was Dieter, one of the pack members who had been opposed to sending this generation to school. There had been some sound of distaste when Lewis went to Hogwarts but now all the other pack children were there, the pack seemed to be split into two camps. Lewis just always thought he would be able to prove his dad’s decision was right and convince everyone. That it wouldn’t lead to this.
His eyes widened in shock and he knew he only had seconds to act. No time to figure out what was going on. A quick glance into the tent had him notice Ilona was awake too. Quietly so the people outside didn’t know the kids were aware of what was going on, Lewis grabbed his family’s knife and threw it towards her. She was the closest to the back end of the tent with Henry. Meaning it was their route of escape as the killers would come through the front where Lewis was. He signaled for her to cut the back of the tent and he would wake up the younger ones.
An action he executed quickly, he hushed them to be quiet and follow Ilona. From here on everything felt like it took place in a matter of seconds.Exactly then the front of the tent opened, Lewis wanted to go after Ilona but he felt cold metal on his throat and then a sharp pain. He wanted to scream in anguish but he couldn’t get a sound out. At this moment he didn’t even realize why but the warm liquid dipping down should have been a give away. Dieter’s right hand woman Alex started reaching out for Thomas when a green blast hit her and immediately killed her. “Avada Kedavra.” A second green blast hit Dieter and auntie Eula appeared in the tent opening.
She looked exhausted, terrified and was covered in blood. Auntie Eula had been Lisa’s, Thomas’ and his grandmother’s, the former pack leader’s lover. Auntie Eula was one of the few adults in the pack that was fully equipped with magic because she didn’t join until she was a young adult and shunned from her family as he got bitten while saving her own father from the werewolf attack. Lewis knew that with age the transformations had gotten more difficult for the old lady and the recovery after was slow. But the look on her face told him this was more than just post transformation pain and tiredness. They were dead weren’t they? His parents, aunt and uncle? Lewis wanted to ask but only a gurgling sound escaped his lips. His vision started to blur. “We must go now-” The old woman said as she gathered the children around, looking at Lewis in concern. He still hadn’t registered what just happened. From the forest more people started appearing, they had dropped the stealth and started sprinting towards the small tent.

It was an uncomfortably warm night, and Ilona was struggling to sleep packed in with the rest of the kids in the tent. It was nights like that when she missed her bed at Hogwarts. She had gotten accustomed to sleeping in tents over the years, but she had yet to find it quite as comfortable as an actual bed indoors. Only a few more years of school and she would be able to work, so she could save up for a place for her and Henri. She had not told him this plan yet, and she had no intention until she had something more solid. No point telling him until she was sure what the future held.
Her wandering thoughts were suddenly interrupted as she heard some noise outside of the tent. It sounded like footsteps, closer than expected. It was not exactly unusual for people to move around at night, but something about the sound put her on edge. That’s when she heard Dieter’s voice, and a chill ran up her spine. Kill the Whelans? What was happening? Any sleepiness that may have remained was immediately gone and she sat up straight. Her eyes automatically moved to find Lewis, seeing him already awake, looking back at her. No words were needed. They both automatically jumped into gear as the two eldest. She caught his knife with surprising agility - perhaps the adrenaline was to blame - and made quick use of it, cutting a hole large enough for them to escape through the tarp.
One by one, Ilona ushered the younger kids out of the tent. She glanced back at Lewis, seeing him following behind, so she made her way out, trusting he would not be far behind. But then… he wasn’t. She could hear a struggle at the front and she quickly shushed the other kids, shuffling them away to hide them in a nearby bush. It was then she heard the two worst words a wizard could say, cast twice in a row. It made her blood run cold. Making sure the kids were hidden away, she quickly ran around to the front of the tent, wand at the ready. She was fully expecting to find Lewis dead, bracing herself for a fight, but instead found Alex and Dieter laying on the ground, Auntie Eula with her wand drawn, and Lewis bleeding profusely - albeit she couldn’t quite tell its origin what with the amount. Ilona was almost in shock, just standing there blinking for a moment as she processed the scene in front of her. What was happening?
Auntie Eula snapped her out of it as she spoke, gathering the kids around her. Ilona barely processed the fact that the kids had left their hiding spot and were now next to her. She couldn’t even be bothered to scold them for putting themselves in possible danger. There was no time. Lewis needed help, and they needed to get out of there. “I passed my apparition test during the school year. If you lead, I can help apparate with the children,” she offered, knowing that apparating so many people at once would be a challenge, even for an experienced witch. Grabbing onto Auntie Eula’s arm, she ushered the kids closer, motioning for them to hold onto her. This was not going to be easy, but she knew apparition success depended on determination, and hell if she was not determined in that moment to get them all out of there.
Lisa had slept restlessly that night. The summer heat creeped into their tent and wrangled itself around her. She loved being home with her family, but missed the cool sheets of her bed at Hogwarts that so gently welcomed her in after a long day. No sooner had she fallen into a sweaty, irritated sleep than she awoke suddenly. She saw Lewis standing over her in the darkness, and even in her sleepy state, one look at his face told her something was terribly wrong. She felt a cool breeze on her face, and noticed that Ilona was standing by a large hole in the tent. At her cousin’s signal, she followed the others out of the tent.
She watched Ilona exit the tent and waited in anticipation for Lewis to follow, but he didn’t. She heard strange noises coming from the tent, and longed to run in there and see what was happening. That is, until she heard a voice utter a curse she’d only heard whispers about. One that inexplicably flooded her heart with panic. Instinctively putting an arm around her brother Thomas, she shot Ilona a look of fear and confusion, asking an unspoken question she knew would never be answered, as they were all ushered into a bush.
Lisa looked at the Henri and Thomas, and prayed that nothing bad would happen to any of them. “Stay here!” she said, running out of the bush. She still had that youthful belief that she was somehow invincible. A rustle behind her told told her that they had not listened, but she didn’t have time to care. Peeking past Ilona and Auntie Eula into the tent, she was horrified to see the bodies of Alex and Dieter on the floor, and her cousin covered in a sea of blood. “Lewis!” she whispered, though he could not answer back. Why had this happened? How could she be sure her parents hadn’t been hurt too? How little time did it take for so much to be lost? She barely registered the word “apparition”, but knew what she needed to do. She gripped Ilona’s arm, and held onto her little brother even tighter as she felt the world squeezing around her. The harrowing sound of a scream got Henri to his feet almost immediately as he grasped onto his wand as he slid into a near by pair of shoes. He knew that the day would come when a situation like this would require him to step up and be a leader. Sure, he was young but he had an active part to play in the family too. His Auntie Eula always telling him to always be prepared for the unexpected.
Reaching under his bed, he heard the voices of Lisa, Ilona and Lewis in the far distance calling out to each other. Was he late for the situation or did they all just decide to take action all at once. He opened up one side of the curtain to see what looked like a bloody scene. Anger rushed through his body as he witnessed what was happening.
He pushed his mat out of the way as he grabbed a backpack that had been enchanted to carry more than it could possibly fit. Supplies, food, water, everything and everything one could possibly need when on the run. With that, he ran over toward Ilona. Henri had gathered his courage to walk past the motionless bodies undetected before meeting up with the others.
"I've got our supplies. We either need to fight or get the others out of here fast. " He had in his hand his wand and whilst he knew he couldn't do much with it, it was still a form of protection none the less. " Auntie Eula, I've got the bag. " He said before looking over at the others. "GO NOW!"

He would have been impressed with Ilona’s ability to catch the knife. Probably even told her she'd make a great seeker. If the situation left any time for compliments. But this was a matter of life and death. Ilona had managed to lead the young ones out. Good, now he just had to follow and watch the back. His legs did not carry him. In fact they were starting to struggle standing up. Lewis blinked and saw Alex and Dieter on the floor of the tent. Auntie Eula was dragging him by the arm. “Put pressure on your throat. Don't try to speak,” she ordered him, as strict as ever. His eyes fell on her stomach which she seemed to notice and immediately pulled her robes to cover it. ‘What about you?’ He wanted to ask. Earlier he assumed the blood had been his parents’, but it was her own wasn't it? He felt utterly useless where he should be the one leading everyone to safety. Auntie Eula managed to do all this while she herself was horribly injured.
“You fool! Don't think you can fight a bunch of adult werewolves just because you're brave!” Auntie Eula gently smacked Lisa on the head with her wand as she scolded her. “Don't think of fighting a silly little boy. We're getting out of here.” She smacked Henri toon. Lewis had to resist a chuckle because it reminded him of easier times where the old woman taught them to read and write.
As some pack members came closer, Eula fired some warning shots to keep them at bay. They looked like warning shots at least but considering her injuries she might be struggling to aim now. This would not be enough to keep them safe longer. His vision began to blur and his head dropped against Eula’s shoulder. This was the first time her own braveness showed cracks and revealed the pain and worry underneath. She looked relieved to hear Ilona could apparate too. Lewis knew Eula was in no condition to carry five children by herself. “Good, you make my Slytherin heart proud,” she winked. “Hold on everyone.” Lewis was held by Eula. He reached out for Lisa who was holding Ilona and Thomas. Eula grabbed Henry’s hand and made sure he held his sisters’ in his other. “Edinburgh Clinic,” she informed Ilona of the destination. “Stay awake a little longer Lewis.” Being unconscious while disapperating was dangerous. But the task seemed impossible. ILONA KYLLI ROWLE ,LISA WHELAN ,HENRI ROWLE ,

Lisa was a little ashamed of herself at Auntie Eula’s reprimand. She was right of course, she was always right. Lisa had no idea what she might have needed to fight off and certainly could have gotten herself killed. It reminded her that try as she might, she had basically zero control of her situation right now. What was a 14 year old going to do against a bunch of angry people who knew how to kill? Still, there was comfort in Eula’s words. At least she was still there, although injured, she was alive to tell Lisa off. And she always knew just what to do. In her fear, Lisa couldn’t see that Eula too was scared.
Edinburgh clinic. They were going somewhere to get help. Although apparition was an extremely uncomfortable experience, she pictured her family’s smiling, not dead faces and that got her through. She gazed at the building in front of them all, and realised that she could breathe again. She didn’t think the same could be said for Lewis though. They needed to get going. “Thank you” she said, partly to Eula, partly to Ilona for apparating them all so well, and partly to everyone else for managing to stay alive. Although it was an urgent situation, Lisa had an urgent question. “Auntie Eula,” she said, hoping that it wasn’t a very bad time to ask, “Are our parents okay?” she asked, not just referring to her own. There was desperation in the question, and suddenly Lisa wasn’t sure she wanted to hear the answer. LEWIS WHELAN,ILONA KYLLI ROWLE,HENRI ROWLE
"How are you going to apperate with Lewis?" He asked Ilona hoping that she had an answer. The slice on Lewis's neck was so concerning but it was then he thought of something. " Wait I got an idea!" He said as he listened to what his Aunty had to say along with the others as he reached into his backpack before taking out a small vial.
"Essence of Dittany!" He said wondering if this would help the current situation. " Lisa you do it." He exclaimed only listening to what she was saying. " Lisa, we'll worry about the parents later but right now, we need to focus on Lewis. " He turned his attention to Aunty Eula and back to Lewis.
" We need to do something now. " He said as he noticed a shadow approaching them. " There's someone here! " He said and within a second later, a spell came flying toward them. A fireball. " Duck!" He yelled out as he managed to dodge the fireball thrown at them.

Ilona wasn’t quite sure how Henri had managed to grab any sort of supplies from their tent in all of the chaos, but in that moment she was thankful. Although it did delay their apparition for a moment, she grabbed the bottle of Essence of Dittany that he was handing out, ignoring his suggestion that Lisa handle it. Lisa was much too preoccupied at that moment, rightfully so, and Ilona wanted to get this done fast. “I’m sorry Lewis, just move your hand for a brief moment,” she asked gently, pulling the stopper off the bottle and dripping a few drops of the potion on the exposed wound. It was even worse than she had imagined. The Dittany would help, but it was much too deep of a cut to heal on its own. They needed a proper healer if they were to save Lewis.
Quickly corking the bottle back up, she handed it back to Henri, and went back to holding onto Auntie Eula and any nearby children. She smiled at Auntie Eula’s compliment, holding on a bit tighter at her instruction. She was a bit nervous, but as ready as she would ever be. Edinburgh Clinic. She repeated the location over and over in her head, trying to picture it as best she could, and followed Eula’s lead as the group disapparated, only briefly seeing the blast of fire whizzing past them as they vanished.
In only a moment, the group had reappeared in front of a large building. It didn’t look like anything special, just a typical office building, but that was the goal so as not to draw attention from any passing muggles. Ilona quickly helped usher in the group through the front door, entering into a large white lobby. It looked nothing like its exterior, and had definitely been magicked to accommodate many more people than the original building would have allowed. Ilona wasted no time and ran up to the front desk. “Please, help him, his neck’s been cut.” No further instructions were needed as the staff jumped into gear attending to Lewis.
Now that Lewis was taken care of, Ilona took a moment to check in on Henri, pulling him in for a hug. She did not care if it was embarrassing at his age to hug his sister; she had been terrified, and was simply happy they both made it out. As she pulled away she held onto his shoulders and examined him closer. “Are you okay? Were you hurt?” Her eyes scanned him from head to toes, looking for any signs of injuries from the attack at camp, or even from their recent apparition. With such a large group, splinching was a real possibility.

Lewis wanted to yell to just leave right here right now but the words couldn’t form. The attempt caused immense pain, reminding him not to try again. He could feel blood drip out of the corners of his mouth but he couldn’t brush it away. He noticed Eula deliberately not answering Lisa’s question. More talking would stall the escape and getting them to safety was probably the priority on her list.
He didn’t know where Henri had managed to get his stuff from. The guy might be the type to over prepare in case of anything. By now Lewis was too weak to even protest when Ilona asked him to remove his hand. He didn’t want the younger ones to see whatever damage was done to him. His hand felt too heavy to hold up so he let his arm fall to his side. His teeth clenched together as the dittany essence pressed on his open wounds brought great discomfort. At least this way his chances of successfully going through the disapperation process increased. Auntie Eula seemed to allow this small moment of stalling but she wouldn’t have any other.
From here on he didn’t recall what was happening or where he was. He had completely missed that there was a blast sent in their direction. Nor did he remember being brought into the Hospital. The severity of the situation probably wouldn’t sink in until days later.
Auntie Eula.
She didn’t have time to block the blast, her purpose was to get the children to safety. It had been her last promise to Rory. While she wished she could be there to look after them afterwards, her survival came second. Once at the hospital, Eula quickly dimmed the fire her robes caught. After Lewis was safe in the hands of healers, she took a moment to check on all the kids. Quietly checking for injuries. Her own blood was dripping on the hospital floor but she had more important things on her mind. Yes, she had been stabbed, yes she got burned and yes her leg might be splinched but none of that mattered right now. “Listen up kids, I need you to promise me one thing; no matter what might happen from here on, stay together. Don’t let anyone separate you. And finish your school,” she told them strictly, her hands on Lisa’s and Ilona’s shoulders.
“I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to get to your parents’ in time,” she bowed her head down in frustration. “Don’t seek out for vengeance I promise I’ll make sure the aurors take care of it. The best vengeance is to remain unbreakable.” These were her words of encouragement before she went to the practical stuff. “I’ll go talk to the aurors. There is an orphanage in Hogsmaede, it’s safe. Go there but first get yourselves seen by healers.” Auntie Eula knew if she were to survive her injuries she would still end up in prison for using one of the forbidden curses. Which wasn’t a good look for a lady her age. She gave them all a hug before she went to talk to the receptionist to call in an auror so she could let the world know what had happened. Who would have thought after all these years the pack would end here.
Note: From here on Auntie Eula and Lewis are out. Feel free to rp further with the three of you. If you really want I can rp Thomas but I don’t think it is needed. I think after two weeks we can skip forward a few days to Lewis waking up if you want . ILONA KYLLI ROWLE ,LISA WHELAN ,HENRI ROWLE ,

Things had happened so quickly and while he handed over the vial to Lisa, he was surprised to see that it was Ilona doing the work. Always a big sister taking the lead. " It's better than nothing. " He exclaimed quickly before closing his eyes and holding onto what he could while grabbing onto Ilona's arm before dissaperating along side her. The whole process made him feel dizzy and light headed as he warped through time and space itself before finding himself else where. A new location. One that he had not been too before.
Within seconds of landing and gathering his bearings, he started to see the scenes unfolding in front of him. Seeing Lewis taken away finally gave him a moment to breathe. He placed his backpack on and held firmly onto his wand as he began to zone out into the distance wondering if what they were experiencing was happening to anyone else and what's worse was the thought of all the bodies laying in front of him. No child should ever have to see that.
He looked over to the others remaining and took a deep breath. The reality of what's happened had just started to sink in as a sicking feeling overwhelmed him and his stomach as he felt the grasp of Ilona's arms around him which was very welcoming considering what they had all had to encounter recently. "No. I'm not hurt I think. " He said with his voice trembling slightly as he began to regain his focus. " What do we do now?"
His mind had started to wander elsewhere in a brief moment before listening to what Auntie Eula had said. He simply nodded with a disheartened soft smile. He suddenly felt like he should of done more but considering he was under age, there wasn't much he could do. He was gifted at Charms and Transfiguration but for what? He wasn't even able to protect Lewis let alone anyone else.
Don't seek revenge? The thought made him tremble in anger as the blood in his body began to boil with anger as he tried to hold onto Ilona's arm rather than lashing out to the air before him. " How does she expect us not to seek revenge? We just saw our parents killed. " He said speaking through his teeth gritting as hard as he could using every inch of patience to hold back what he truly wanted to say and do.

Lisa was glad that Ilona had handled the dittany instead of her. Everything that had happened was so much to process in so little time that it was all she could do to just exist. Seeing Lewis get taken away made her a little worried, but she was mostly just glad that people were able to help. They could all breathe now, nobody was dead, nobody was going to die.
That is, until she heard Auntie Eula answer the question she so dreaded getting an answer to. Don’t seek for vengeance. The best vengeance is to remain unbreakable. She would never forget those words. Once she had a few minutes to stop panicking, the gravity of the situation really started to kick in. Her parents were gone. Really gone. So were her aunt and uncle. She would never see them again. They probably wouldn’t even get a proper burial. Although she knew that no amount of tears shed would bring them back, she couldn’t help one falling down her cheek. She hugged her brother tightly. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” There was nothing more she could say to any of them.
She turned to Henri, her heart aching knowing that she wanted revenge too, but it was not their place to deliver it. “I know, but we can’t. It would just put us in more danger. We can’t stoop to their level. If we make it out of here, that’ll be revenge enough.” Although they weren’t blood related, Lisa cared a lot about Henri and Ilona. Nothing could fill the pit in her stomach at the moment, but if they all survived, that was something to hold onto. LEWIS WHELAN,ILONA KYLLI ROWLE,HENRI ROWLE

The adrenaline of the moment passed, Ilona was starting to feel the gravity of the situation. They had escaped, they were safe, but Henri’s question resonated in her head. Now what? Auntie Eula’s words were both comforting, and terrifying. They were on their own. Again. It broke her heart when Henri called the Whelans his parents. Sure they weren’t blood related, but they had essentially taken over the role of parents. They had cared for them when their own flesh and blood had rejected them; and now they were gone. The Rowle children were once again without parents. She knew she shouldn’t, but she felt partly to blame. She was supposed to protect Henri, and yet here they were dealing with yet another devastating loss.
Ilona could feel the sting of tears in her eyes, but she forced them back. She had to be the strong one for the younger kids, particularly now with Lewis in the hospital and Eula handling the aftermath of the pack coup. They couldn’t see her crack. Auntie Eula was right. They had to stay together, since now they were all the family they had, and as the oldest, Ilona took that responsibility very seriously. “Lisa’s right. We escaped, and that is already enough of a victory.” She hoped that would be enough to satisfy Henri for now, and prevent him from seeking any further vengeance. “Come along, let’s let the healers take a look at you all, then we can head over to the orphanage.” Herding them around her, she walked back over to the front desk, making sure the healers checked on the others before looking her over. She was not concerned for herself at that moment. She just wanted to get Henri, Lisa, and Thomas somewhere safe. Then, and only then, would she finally be able to relax and care for herself.

Having both Lisa and Ilona there to comfort him was actually quite welcoming. He knew he had quite the bad temper and without anyone stopping him, he would of sought revenge with or without the others in the pack. “ Sorry isn’t going to bring them back. “ He replied softly but of course, holding respect and not trying to be dismissive. “ Nothing we can do now. “ He said before looking at Lisa dead straight in the eye with a silent thought running through his mind.
Nothing we can do now but seek revenge….
Then, just when he turned his attention elsewhere, he found himself now conversing with Ilona. An inch of anger running through his mind hearing what she had to say. “ Is it really victory? We got attacked, had fire balls shot at us and then what? Lost the people that mean the most to us. “ He stood there in silence before walking off toward another healer where he began his examination.
“ Healer says everything is fine with me. “ He vocalised as he returned to the lobby section waiting for Auntie Eula to return. “ So now we go to an orphanage? And who’s gonna take us there? “ He asked curious as to if they were gonna travel alone or if they were to have an escort.

Lisa hung her head. She knew they were all right in a way. Sorry wasn’t going to bring anyone home. Nothing can bring someone back from the dead, not sorry, not revenge, not tears. And yet tears fell, and with each one she felt as though she was apologising to her family for not being there to save them, although she couldn’t have even if she got the chance.
”Maybe not victory. But we’re alive, right? That’s got to count for something.” she said, unsure if she really believed it. She walked over to a healer to get examined too. “Everything’s fine with me as well” she said. As Henri mentioned the orphanage, another wave of worry came over her. They would have to live in an unfamiliar place, and what if they didn’t like it? But at least they had somewhere to go. ILONA KYLLI ROWLE, HENRI ROWLE, LEWIS WHELAN

Ilona agreed that the victory felt hollow after losing so many people, including their home, in one night, but she was not about to encourage such a vendetta. They had not heard the voices outside the tent. They did not know how close they had come to joining the Whelan adults, or at least how close Lewis, Lisa, and Thomas had come. She did not know if they would have in fact spared her and her brother had their plan been successful, but she was glad they all managed to escape in time so she was not placed in such a situation.
Ilona nodded as Lisa attempted to comfort Henri with the reminder of their survival. “Exactly. We’re alive. If they had it their way, we probably would not be.” She paused as she looked between Lisa and Henri, hoping they understood just how dire the situation had been. “That is how we beat them, and how we will be better than them.” She glanced pointedly at Henri as she said this, hoping to get ideas of revenge out of his head. She knew sometimes he could be a bit foolhardy in such situations, but she did not want her brother joining the rest of their pack.
So far, at least, they were all safe, having gotten clean bills of health from the healers. The aurors were just arriving to speak with Auntie Eula when Ilona ushered them all out of the infirmary. She could return later to speak to them if required, but at that moment she just wanted to get the others somewhere safe and warm where they could rest. It had been an eventful night already. “Yes, we’ll head to the orphanage in Hogsmeade. At least there we can remain together and keep attending Hogwarts.” She could tell they were scared. If she had to admit it, she was too. She may have been of age, but she still felt like a child, and once again she was on her own.
“I’ll take you there,” she answered Henri with a small, sad smile. “Just close your eyes and hold on to me tight.” She waited until all three were ready before closing her own eyes and picturing where she wanted to go: Hogsmeade. At least this time she knew where she was going. Apparating with three other people on her own was still a daunting task, but she knew it was the fastest way to get there. With one deep, steadying, breath and a few quick spins, the group apparated in front of the Three Broomsticks. She hadn’t known exactly where the orphanage was in the village, and so had decided it would be safer to picture a spot she knew very well. After one quick check to make sure nobody had gotten splinched in the latest journey, she held out her hands for Henri and Lisa to take. “Come on, let’s go find our new home.”
