news !
Welcome to a new year at TB! We're now going into our nineteenth roleplaying year, so first off, thank you to everyone who's kept us alive! We'd be nothing without you. <3
new moderator !
Yes, we have a new moderator here - our very own Mandee [Marshall Suijen, Melanie McVayne, Trevor Lewis and many others]. She has been doing very well so far, accepting your applications and updating all those wonderful lists we have to keep things organized. Thank you so much for your help so far Mandee - you've been so wonderful thus far. =D <3
spotlight !
The Member of the Month definitely deserves to go out to Roberta. She has been with us for so long. I don't even know how long, but I know she has been here since the last time the Triwizard Tournament was at Hogwarts and that was around January 2007. She recently returned to us quite a few months ago and she's been such a helpful and friendly member towards everyone on the site and is always up for making people feel welcome. Congrats, Roberta! It's so wonderful to have you here. <3
The Character of the Month goes out to Connie. He really is an interesting character to have here and the more I see him being roleplayed, the more I want to see. He has many sides to him that aren't always visible through just one roleplaying post, which makes him very interesting and definitely deserving of this award. Congrats, Connie! <3
It was really hard to pick out this award this month, but I believe that Emily really shows some great roleplaying skills. No matter what thread, she always puts effort into her posts. It's not about length all the time, but the quality and Emily sure has that, no matter what post she's making. Congrats, Emily! <3

triwizard tournament !
As per canon, there is a Triwizard Tournament every five years. Now that it is 2009, it is time for Hogwarts to host the event yet again. Remember, ten years ago, the rule was changed so now sixth years can also partake in the Triwizard Tournament. We have a schedule of the Triwizard Tournament here, so make sure to check it to see what will be coming up next. I may try to have something in my signature as well, so it's easier to see what will happen when.
Because we need judges to mark the champions in their tasks, it would be great to have you. <3 Currently, we need someone from the Ministries of France and Italy to be a secondary judge. We also need a Headmistress of Beauxbatons [it can be Maxime or someone else, if you prefer <3]. We have lots of interest for the secondary British judge, but if you have a French or Italian character and would like to help out, please shoot me a PM a.s.a.p. <3
new year, new classes !
Yes, it's a new year, so that means that we all need to get to class again. <3 You all did SO WELL with your participation last year [especially in Potions and Charms!] so I hope you'll do the same again. It's good to see you using the class threads as roleplaying threads, rather than just 'I need to enter to get the mark, here's my post. Blah', which is what has happened a lot in the past. But not last year. =D So, thank you all for making it interesting! <3
Now, a reminder to the professors - If you don't post a lesson for two years in a row, you will get fired. You only have to post one lesson a year, which isn't much, so it shouldn't be so hard. <3
And to the students - Remember that if you're a first-fifth year, you need to be signed up in the mandatory classes. If you're a third-fifth year, you also need to be in at least one elective class. And if you're a sixth-seventh year, you need to be enrolled in at least three classes. Please refer to this thread for more information.
On a last note on the classes, the class sign-ups have been moved all to one thread. This means you can just post what classes you wish to take all at once instead of going to all the different boards. This also means that it will be easier for the admin to see who's in what classes and the professors can easily access it too, so I think it's a win for all. (: The new class sign-ups can be located here, though the list isn't complete just yet. <3
the plot is rolling !
At the moment, there hasn't been that much roleplaying of the plot, but just so you know what's going on, here it is:
There is a new Minister for Magic, who is rumoured to have strong ties with Giovanna Nero, the head of the Death Eaters. Nothing has been proven, but that won't distract anyone from the truth. But even so, he seems to be fairly popular with the crowd. Valen Roberts wasn't a bad Minister, but everyone was craving for change, so when he stepped down and became an Auror once more, everyone instantly saw the new Minister as a hero of sorts. Yes, he would save them from the quarrels that happened in the streets, from the innocent lives being caught in the crossfire. Or at least, that's what they thought.
But already, he has put new laws into place. He says it's for the protection of the people, but others can see past his lies. While vampires and werewolves are not being banned from working or attending school in a public environment, there have been new laws put into place regarding the students and professors of Hogwarts. The vampire and werewolf students will be taken out of the regular classes and will be taught by the professors of their own kind. This is so the 'regular' students and professors are not in danger. This law will come into effect starting September 2009.
