TROLL! IN THE DUNGEONS
Authorities were shocked to learn that on October 31, 1991, a Mountain Troll was discovered inside Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Hogwarts, which recently expanded to include a number of individuals that appeared over the summer that were of school age, is also now the home of one Harry Potter, also known as the Boy Who Lived. The populace's joy in seeing the celebrated victor over the Dark Lord return to the magical world was marred by this terrible danger that nearly befell him and his young peers.
How did this lapse of security occur in this ancient school?
The troll in question was discovered by Quirinus Quirrell, professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts at the school, who reportedly burst into the Great Hall during the school's traditional Halloween Feast to warn the students and faculty that a troll was in the school's dungeons. Students were soon ushered from their cheerful celebration to their respective house common rooms as the school was placed in lockdown until such time as the troll was stopped.
Ministry employees from the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures were dispatched to remove the unconscious body of the troll from a third floor girls' lavatory, where it was reportedly knocked out with its own club. Faculty on the scene declined to comment on the identity of the individual that defeated the troll to reporters.
"This is shocking, just shocking," commented Lucius Malfoy, school governor, "we send our children to Hogwarts expecting that they will have a safe environment. If this troll had reached the students, why, I shudder to think of what might have happened."
He went on to assure the Prophet that the board of governors will be launching a full inquiry into this situation and whether or not Hogwarts security is really keeping our nation's young people safe.
"After all," said one witness, who requested to remain anonymous, "if something like this can get in, what else can get in? What are they covering up?"
Though Headmaster Albus Dumbledore assured reporters that the school is taking this breach of security very seriously, faculty declined to comment.
It has yet to be determined just how the troll was released into the school. This species is not known to be prevalent in the area directly surrounding Hogwarts, though the forest has been known to house a variety of questionably safe creatures.
