new minister for magic
After a relatively short election, Stuart Thawley has been elected the new Minister for Magic.
When he first joined the Ministry right out of school in 1964, he became an Auror, wishing to help those in need and keep the citizens of Britain safe. After ten years and an offer of the position of Head Auror (which he turned down), he transferred over to the Department of International Magical Co-operation. He found his true calling there in the International Magical Office of Law.
Throughout the years, he helped put forward many laws that have benefited wizarding society. He also joined the International Confederation of Wizards in 1985 and the Wizengamot in 1991.
Not a lot of people around the country knew him very well prior to this election, but he sure won over everyone's hearts through his campaign, showing everyone exactly the kind of Minister he would become. Evidently, it was one that everyone wished to have and we wish him the best of luck in his new office.
diagon alley perpetrator
For quite a few months, the Ministry has had a hard time narrowing down the suspect list.
After quite a few sessions of questioning, Lucius Malfoy and Lilith Channing were proven to not be valid suspects. The last three suspects (Aaron Lathen, Adam van Vliet and Giovanna Nero) were never found and could not be questioned. However, after many witnesses and accounts of the events during the Festival, the Ministry is now focusing their efforts into finding one person: Giovanna Nero.
Witnesses have accounted that she was acting suspicious around the buildings which later exploded.
"She was unnaturally calm," stated Veronica Thompson, an employee at the Apothecary in Diagon Alley.
Giovanna Nero is currently wanted for questioning and arrest by the Ministry. If you see her, please contact the Ministry immediately. Do not attempt to approach her.
