hogwarts curriculum changes
It has been a long time coming and Hogwarts has changed their curriculum again. After many talks, meetings and hearings within the Ministry of Magic, discussing the rights of beings and creatures and magical education, it has been determined that Goblins and full Veela are allowed to attend Hogwarts.
For a few years now, vampires and werewolves have been allowed to attend. The biggest argument about having Goblin and Veela students is that they don't wield wands and most classes at Hogwarts require a use of a wand in order to perform magic. Goblins have their own secrets - most of which they have not wished to share with wizard kind. Veela have their own sort of magic as well that does not require a wand and that only they can perform.
There will be a unique curriculum for Goblins and one for full Veela. They will have Goblin Studies (and Veela Studies). Headmaster Flitwick was not able to comment with the names of the new professors for these new classes at this time but we are to understand that they will be taught by a Goblin and full Veela.
With the introduction of different beings at Hogwarts that most of the students probably aren't used to interacting with every day, a new mandatory class for all first and second years has been introduced: Being Studies. The Ministry has assured us that the goal is for mutual understanding and respect about different species and the first step to that is knowledge.
In addition, there have been three other new courses introduced to Hogwarts. Wizarding Literature, for third years and higher, will give the students the ability to read and analyse novels of the great wizarding writers of old. Wizarding Finance, for sixth and seventh years, will give the students a better knowledge of how our economy works and how to invest and maximize your Galleon beyond Hogwarts. Lastly, Magical Law has been added, which will be a great course for anyone wanting to go into the law department at the Ministry of Magic. They will definitely be a step ahead of the rest.
We have no news yet of how many Goblin and Veela students will be attending or the names of the new professors to take these new positions but we are excited to see where this boost in education will lead our youngest and brightest to give them the best opportunities for their future we can.
