Sorting Madness
By: Rachelle Quincy
Breaking news from Hogwarts—the Sorting Hat is no more!
In lieu of the hat is a silent Sorting Scarf that changes colours to denote a student's house. There has been no explanation for the replacement, only rumours circulating about the origins of the scarf. The Daily Prophet reached out to Headmistress Eliza Cunningham, but has not received a response at this time.
Regardless of the reason, the decision to use a Sorting Scarf has been met with both uproar and approval. Those in agreement believe a change is long overdue, but dissenters believe that she is "trying too hard to stand out". This uproar follows the controversy around Eliza Cunningham's placement as Hogwarts' first Muggleborn headmistress, and her decision to introduce associate professors.
While we do not know if the Sorting Scarf is temporary or if it is one of many changes that are in the works, there is one thing we do know: Eliza Cunningham is certainly making her mark at Hogwarts.

Halloween Every Day!
By: Nigel Parsons
There is more than month before Halloween, but that hasn't stopped Muggles, witches and wizards alike from roaming the streets in costume. Fashion experts claimed that this was a trend among Muggle teenagers, but witches and wizards have followed in suit—literally. Upon asking one of the middle-aged wizards why he was partaking in this trend, he answered, "It's Halloween every day!"
There you have it, folks. Per the word of a wizard dressed as a pumpkin, it's Halloween every day!
This trend has also trickled into Hogsmeade. Witches, wizards and even some Hogwarts students prowl the streets, dressed like Muggles and magical creatures. Candy shops have even joined in the trend, offering free candies and chocolates to those in costume.
Guess Halloween has come early this year. Trick-or-treat!
