Eva lost her wizard hat. It must have fallen off when she was running to class. But she had some time so she retraced her steps. She found two people by her hat, Tynan and Harrison, trying to decide whos it was. They knew whoever it was would probably get in trouble for losing it.
((You guys can talk about the hat or whatever else you'd like to do first, but once Eva puts it on, she will turn into a cat. And it's up to the other two to try and figure out how to change her back. Try to come up with a reason they won't just go straight to a professor to make it more interesting. And Eva can 'help' in a cat way.))
Eva breathed a huge sigh of relief when she found her hat with two boys. It had her name embroidered inside of the brim. Not easily visible to anyone else though. Still, she would be able to prove it was her hat if the boys didn't believe her though she didn't see why they wouldn't. "Hi there, I think that's my hat," she said with a friendly smile and a breath of relief. Well, she hoped it was actually her hat at any rate.

Harrison stood over the - seemingly - abandoned wizard hat, dressed neatly in his school uniform, with hands on hips. It was the same posture his dad used when thinking. Because that's what Harrison was doing, thinking. The hat seemed to have been dropped, or placed there, and the Gryffindor had arrived at the item around the same time as another student, a Slytherin. And while a hat on the ground might not have been cause for much thought, the thing about Hogwarts was the potential for strange and mysterious things...
"Do you think someone left it here on purpose?" Harrison asked the older student. He looked over and added. "Oh, I'm Harrison, by the way, I think I've seen you in classes, right? You're a Slytherin Quidditch player, too? Awesome."
Harrison's attention shifted as another student approached, someone younger in Ravenclaw, and Harrison gave a grin.
"Oh, hey, Eva!"
While not very well known or close, Harrison knew of Eva, mainly from classes and social passing...

Tynan had only stopped because he noticed another student was. His school robes were messy and his tie was loosened so that it dangled below his button up shirt, of which the top button was not done up. The Slytherin had his school bag draped over one shoulder and didn't seem to be in any particular hurry.
"'lo." The lazy and heavily accented greeting was given as the first year spoke to him about the hat, then classes, and finally Quidditch. Being on the Slytherin team was awesome and he really enjoyed the sport a lot. Even if playing before a full moon brought out more aggression and after a full moon made him feel dreadful. "Yea. Chaser'n all."
The conversation was interrupted by another student showing up, Eva if the Gryffindor was correct. A Ravenclaw and, since he didn't see a hat with her already, the owner of the hat that had been found. Well at least he didn't have to bother overmuch with the hat now and could continue on his way. "Ya better keep 'old of i'. Prefects are a righ' bunch'a craic killers."

Eva was glad that she didn't have to do much to prove the hat was hers. "Thank you both," she said cheerily, giggling as the older boy said prefects were a "bunch'a craic killers". She didn't really know what that meant but Eva was at an age where she was beginning to giggle at anything remotely amusing a boy said.
She plopped it on her head. She wasn't quite sure what had happened but instead of Eva, a ginger cat with green eyes sat in her place. Why had Harrison Poole and the older boy suddenly gotten so tall?

Harrison gave a lopsided grin, happy to help even if it hadn't really been much, and prepared to move on. Maybe he would follow Tynan, maybe ask about some Quidditch stuff, maybe get some tips and training secrets? So, Harrison watched Eva put on the hat, and was about to wave a goodbye, when--
"Whaaaaaaat?"
--the redheaded girl suddenly morphed into a ginger cat?!
That took a moment to settle in.
...
"W-what? A cat?" Harrison blinked and his eyes were wide, as he looked to the older Slytherin and pointed to the cat. "Did she just transform or was she teleported or something? Or is this common for students who misplace things? Did... did Hogwarts do this?"
Harrison slowly glanced about, unsure if the magical castle was enacting some kind of disciplinary procedure, but was still eager to know if the cat was even Eva...

One moment he was face to face with a girl who was giggling at what he'd just said and the next there was a cat. Well this was Hogwarts. If weird things were going to happen he sort of expected this would have been the sort of thing it would be. Still it was pretty wicked that a spell could be put on a hat to transfigure someone into a cat. At least as far as he knew that was what had happened, they hadn't quite gotten to human transfiguration of this sort in classes.
"Brillian'." Was the first thing out of his mouth when the first year asked what they should do. There was no more hat so they couldn't just take it off and Tynan was absolutely not going to try and transfigure her back. He figured that would get him into a fair bit of trouble, especially if it went wrong. Without being able to see the hat anymore he wasn't sure what to do, maybe a summoning charm might take the hat off and change her back?
"I s'pect i' was the ha'." He squatted down curiously, more intrigued by the magic than their predicament. Going to a Professor was probably out of the question as he might get detention before he could explain it wasn't him. So he started to think about Defense Against the Dark Arts class and if anything he had learned in the last three years might be helpful here. "Wicked magic a'any ra'e. Gotta be'a hex or somethin'."

Eva hoped they would not go to the Transfiguration professor for this. How could she let the dreamy, wonderful Professor Min see her like this? He would never take her seriously (never mind the fact that he wouldn't in the first place since she was a child). She inwardly breathed a sigh of relief when they seemed to be thinking about what to do so were at least willing to help. Eva currently had no ideas on what. Maybe Finite? Though that was a second year spell so was still a little tricky for students their age.
