Domhnall wasn't particularly vengeful but prank wars were something he liked. And he was about to start one with Peeves. Possibly. Yesterday, the poltergeist had pelted him with water balloons, which was a good laugh... but now payback was due. Having located his target - Peeves was wreaking havoc in the trophy room - the second year hid behind a corner nearby, a bucket of water in one hand. He cast the Impervius Charm on himself, to avoid accidentally getting wet, and waited.
After five or so minutes, the noises coming from the trophy room gradually ceased. Soon he heard footsteps, which had to be the mischievous being fleeing the scene of his crime. Don didn't pause to consider whether he'd ever seen Peeves walk. He leapt out from his hiding place. "Aha, gotcha!" He upturned the bucket, spilling the water toward the oncomer.

Of all things to happen, getting pelted, very suddenly, with water was not high on his list. It came quite out of nowhere and Noa sputtered, his hair plastered across his forehead. The hufflepuff coughed, looking up to see which person he might have offended, or ghost for that matter - he had just dodged Peeves a moment ago - snuck on by beneath his nose, and behind a larger student before making his way to the door.
It was another student, around his age, though Noa hadn't seen him before. Of course, his interactions were mostly with his own house if they weren't in classes.

The upturned bucket was around two-thirds empty when Don realized he had the wrong person. Too bad he couldn't draw the water back or even prevent that last third from splashing out, since it all happened in a fraction of a second. "Eek! You're not Peeves..!" The astute observation came out in an accusotary tone, though he had aimed for an apologetic one. "I- I mean, uh, this wasn't meant for you. Sorry about that."
The bucket slipped out of his fingers and clanged to the floor. He was used to people being furious with him for silly practical jokes he'd inflicted on them, but he had always done so intentionally. This was the first time that his prank got so badly misdirected. Don shuffled his feet sheepishly. He wished he knew a drying spell, but the best he could offer was setting the other boy's clothes on fire.

"No, I'm not. Peeves is back there. Bothering one of the upperclassmen." Noa sounded annoyed, even to his own ears. It was in his right though. He could tell that the other student realized he had the wrong person, but it was about two or three seconds too late. "Clearly, it wasn't for me. Did you not hear footsteps? Ghosts glide, don't they?"
He grabbed a fistful of his robes, squeezing out the water futilely. Noa gave up after a moment; he'd need a change of clothes probably, he hadn't quite learned a drying or warming charm yet. He looked up, nose wrinkling as he surveyed the other. "Peeves get you a few days ago or what?" He had gotten lucky thus far, and had yet to to be a target for the poltergeist and his antics.

"Well, actually, Peeves is a poltergeist, he's more solid than a ghost," he contested, trying to save face for making such an oversight. "He could walk, in theory... only he never does. So that's a good point, I guess."
Don cringed as he watched the younger boy try to wring the water from his robes. It had to be unpleasangt to be all soaked like that. "Yep, he threw about fifty water balloons at me yesterday and a lot of them hit, so I thought this could be a nice revenge," he blabbered, eager to shift the subject even temporarily. "So, um- are you going to tell anybody about this?" The boy's voice was imploring. This could mean another week's detention for him, if a faculty member or a Prefect found out.

"More solid doesn't mean completely solid!" Noa was not too sure realy what the difference between a ghost and a poltergeist was, only that one was probably nastier than the other. He was still very convinced they both glided. His nose wrinkled a little. "They still can't make that much noise."
Fifty water balloons? That sounded terrible. Now Noa could understand why the older student was bent on revenge. "That must have sucked." Noa paused for a moment. "Would Peeves even get wet thought? I mean, he's still not solid-solid ya know?" The boy shook his head. "Probably not? I'm wet and cold now, but it's water. I'll live."

Don hadn't realized how flawed his plan was. He frowned, thinking about what he'd seen of Peeves during the last two years. "He can pick up and carry things... So if he can touch matter, matter should be able to touch him?" That had to be the smartest statement he'd uttered so far this year. "Although- crap, I think I've seen him pass through walls. Do you reckon' he can control how solid he is?" That would completely wreck his plan of revenge, unless he found a way to surprise Peeves while the non-being was in his 'solid mode' or whatever that was called.
"Okay, uh... thanks for um-- your discretion?" Hufflepuffs really were the most chill of all houses.

Noa found himself frowning. Ghosts and poltergeists were such a weird concept. "If he can though, how solid can he get? Actually, how fast can he turn uh...not solid?"
Noa snorted. "It's water. It's not some stupid potion or anything. I'm not going to kick up a fuss about that. I mean, a drying spell, or I haul myself back to the dorms and change. It's not like I'm bright pink or burning." Besides, it wasn't like he was afraid of water. If he was, he would have made a really stupid scene of himself by now. He was just, wet. "You have any other plans to get back at Peeves? The next kid you throw water at might hex you."
