It was the middle of November and the air was getting cooler. Things at Hogwarts were more or less settled into a routine now. Of course, there were always troublemakers and things that kept Eliza on her toes, but life had gotten more or less normal after the rush of the beginning of term. It was also nice that Blaise was at Hogwarts so Eliza didn't need to take extra time going back and forth between Hogsmeade and Hogwarts all the time or coordinating babysitting.
Eliza liked to keep in touch with some of her past students, especially if they followed one of her interests. One such student was Nessa. She had been in Slytherin, but that didn't matter to Eliza. She followed the Quidditch path and was doing quite well for herself, earning herself a nickname in the process. Eliza never had a nickname when she had been with the Appleby Arrows, but it had been a great time of her life. Unfortunately she had to quit when she adopted her daughter, though (who was now older than Nessa, actually), as she didn't want to be dragging her around while the Quidditch team did their touring for all of their games.
Now Sally was all grown up. Actually, in her mid-30s, and a healer. Eliza actually had tried to go back to the Appleby Arrows for a year after Sally got a little older, but she had been out of it for a few years and it proved to be too difficult. That was when she took the Charms professor posting at Hogwarts and never looked back. Teaching was truly her calling.
Eliza wanted to know how it was going for Nessa, though. She had graduated 7 years ago. Eliza hoped she was making time for other things in her life too, not just Quidditch all the time. But she knew how that proved to be difficult sometimes with their schedule.
She found a booth near the window in the Three Broomsticks and didn't order anything yet. She would wait for Nessa to arrive first.

Nessa was a celebrity especially with the young ones and it really hit home for her when she'd return to old stomping grounds like Hogsmeade. She hadn't been to the little village since her last year at Hogwarts which was seven years ago and stepping off the carriage a wave of nostalgia washed over her instantly. Nessa hadn't had a break since being drafted to the Irish International team so with the week off she'd reached out to one of her favorite teachers and her Quidditch idol ELIZA MARIE CUNNINGHAM, she wanted to catch up and step out of her Quidditch bubble filled world.
Walking into the Three Broom Sticks Nessa had saw Eliza through the window she wanted to head straight to her former Professor but that celebrity status thing reared it's head, a bunch of younger witches and an older wizard man recognized her shouting 'The Bulger Butcher!' 'Can we have an autograph and photo?' all of which Nessa obliged even giving them small pins of the team she played for with her jersey number.
When it was over she excused herself from their excitement and found Eliza, "Sorry about tha', can't seem to shake the fame even on me days off," Nessa took a seat across from Eliza, "It's good'ta see ya...Professor? Headmistress...Eliza? It's been ages innit?!"

Eliza noticed Nessa come in. Of course, she was a famous Quidditch star. Eliza was famous as well, for other reasons, but everyone in Hogsmeade was pretty used to her by now. Plus, her fame didn't come with autographs. There was something different between saving the world and being a Quidditch star. But Eliza didn't mind. She honestly wouldn't have liked to be that famous. Even when she played professionally, she hadn't been one of the star players, so she didn't have to endure what Nessa did any time she was in a rather magical place like Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade.
She chucked. "Yes, of course you can call me Eliza now. But I know some former students of mine still call me Professor Cunningham." Some old habits were hard to break, especially when for so long, it would be inappropriate to address Eliza as her first name. Eliza understood that. If Snape was still alive, she would probably have a hard time ever calling him Severus. It took a bit of getting used to with Flitwick and McGonagall as well, but Eliza had been colleagues with Flitwick for years - and his Deputy - before he retired, so she had some time to get used to it.
"It has been quite a while," she agreed. "How have things been? Of course, I know you're very busy with Quidditch. Those schedules don't leave much room, other than the off-season." Although, the league and the national teams alternated so players who were on both pretty much had no off-season at all. Maybe a few weeks between them, but it was still a very busy lifestyle.
Eliza caught the eye of one of the servers and they nodded, indicating they would be over there soon to take their orders.

"I think prefer Professor Cunningham if I'm bein' honest," Nessa smiled, "plus bein' respectful and such, I'm only the bad girl on the pitch," and that was the truth Nessa had a reputation as an aggressive Quidditch player but she had the act down flipping it like a switch, "just been training as usual some rough transitions with rookies this year but I'm starting for the Kestrels and the Irish teams for the season..so I'm doing great career wise," when the server arrived at their table old habits of always being playing prepared meant, at least for a Beater, bulking up: she started with two butter beers, a traditional English breakfast, extra eggs and bacon, then pumpkin pasties. Not a single ounce of guilt, "how's the headmistressin' goin' professor?"
It was a old habit but Nessa leaned back in her chair, "was wonderin' about maybe some advice as well?"

"That's fine with me," Eliza said with a smile. Nessa sure had the reputation now on the pitch, but it really had nothing to do with her actual demeanor. It was all for show anyway.
"I'm glad to hear it. I hope the new recruits do well. It is quite the shock going from Hogwarts Quidditch to the professional league." Eliza remembered the steep learning curve but there wasn't really anything to it other than working hard and hoping you could come out from it on the other side.
"Pretty good. A lot better now than in recent years. It had been rather rough there during the war, to be honest." Mostly when Malfoy had been in charge of the country, actually. He looked for any excuse to get Eliza out of running Hogwarts just because she was a muggleborn. But thankfully that was all over with. "Blaise is starting his first year there, actually, so I have to do a lot less running back and forth between Hogsmeade and Hogwarts." Nessa probably hadn't seen him for a long time, but she would know that Blaise was Eliza's son. Sometimes he came to Hogwarts for Quidditch games and he had been there the whole year of the Big Threat when he was only 5. That was probably around Nessa's last year at school, to think of it. That year, all the professional teams actually lived at Hogwarts and played all their games there so that would have been a good experience for Nessa.
"I'll do what I can," Eliza said. Depending on the advice, maybe she didn't have the most sound advice. But she would be helpful if she could.
But just then the server showed up. "Thank you, I'll have the house sandwich and a Butterbeer please." She then looked at Nessa to order. Once that was done, they would have some time before the food showed up so Nessa could ask her advice, though.
((Big Threat - everyone had to stay in castles for protection, it was the 2018-2019 year, I believe. Hogwarts had relatives of professors, all professional Quidditch players, and recent grads stay there. Everyone else was in other castles, mostly Holt's Castle which was the main one (in Wales).))
