Riko arrived at the Three Broomsticks, walked inside and looked for a place to sit down. It didn't take too long to find an empty table, walked over to the table and sat down in one of the chairs, putting her bag on the seat next to her. She had decided to wait for her friend Ken to arrive before she ordered anything and so she had something to do while she waited, grabbed a book out of her bag. Opens it up, goes to the first chapter and starts reading. As she is reading her book, she puts it on the table and leans forward to see the words better. When she got up to the third chapter of her book, she closed it and put it back in her bag. A waiter came over to the table, asked if she would like to order anything and told her that she was waiting for a friend to arrive first.
She would look over at the door, every time she heard it open to see if it was Ken and so far, it hasn't been him. She listened to the people who weren't too far from her table, they were adults and didn't really understand what they were talking about. She decided to stop listening to people's conversations and just play with her hair, as she waited for her friend to show up.
It was time for another Hogsmeade trip. Ken would have stayed in the relatively empty common room for some time alone, if he had not promised to visit the Three Broomsticks with Riko Shirakawa. He walked down the High Street with both hands in his pockets, past his parents’ apartment - which he never visited on a school weekend - and soon arrived at the popular pub. Pushing the door open, he quickly spotted his friend’s bright hair and strode over to her table.
“Hi, Riko. Hope you haven’t been waiting too long,” he said with a small smile as he sat down in the chair opposite from her. “How have you been? Let’s order something.”

Riko was sitting at the restaurant, playing with her hair while waiting for her friend Ken. The waiter had come over a few times to ask if she wanted to order, but she had said she was still waiting for her friend. After a while, she looked over at the front door and saw two people come in, but neither of them was Ken. She continued playing with her hair, but a few seconds later, she spotted Ken coming inside. He saw her and walked over to her table with a smile.
"Hey! Ken. No, I haven't been here that long," Riko said, stopping playing with her hair. Ken sat down opposite her. "I'm doing good, how about you? The waiter asked me a few times if I wanted to order, but I told them that I was waiting for a friend," Riko said.
“I’m doing well too. I’ll just have a Butterbeer, what about you?” Ken glanced up. If a waiter did not come by again by the time Riko decided on what she wanted, he would go to the bar himself and place their order. “I don’t join the Hogsmeade trips often anymore because I’ve lived here my entire life and been on the weekend trips since third year. But it’s nice to be away from school for a while,” he commented.

Riko smiles, "That's good. I want to have a butterbeer also, it is my favorite." Riko said, which is true. She has loved butterbeer, since she was a little girl and got addicted to it. She looked to see if a waiter was near them, saw one waiter on the other side of the room and was taking someone's order. "Oh, it does nice to get away from school sometimes. I like coming to Hogsmeade, having a change of scenery and doing some shopping." Riko said.
"So, anything new with you?" Riko asked. Thought to herself how she just noticed how good-looking Ken was, he was a year older than her and he probably liked girls his own age anyways. She is happy being friends with him, his nice guy and she going to miss seeing him around school, after he leaves Hogwarts.
Butterbeer was Ken’s go-to drink here at the Three Broomsticks, but his favorite Wizarding food or drink would have to be ice cream at Florean Fortescue’s. It was unfortunate that they did not have a second shop in Hogsmeade. He also saw that the waiter nearest to them was busy on the other side of the room, so he stood up to place their order at the bar. “I’ll be right back,” he nodded.
Soon he returned with two jugs of Butterbeer. The soon-to-be graduate set one down before Riko and took a sip of his own drink.
“Well… I applied for a job as a reporter at the Daily Prophet,” he began, a little anxious. He was not sure how his friends would take this news, seeing as he never EVER brought up reporting as a career option. “My ultimate dream is to do research on Transfiguration and other branches of magic that have potential for new discovery. But I also need a stable job first, and I thought I will enjoy writing for the spells section of the paper.”
The more he said it, the more he convinced himself that he did the right thing. “How about you? Anything new?”

The waiter nearest them was still busy on the other side of the room and she needed something to drink, since her throat was dry. She saw Ken stand up and nods her head. "Alright." Riko said and as she waited for him to come back, she fixed her hair. She sits forward in her chair, lays her arms on the table and looking around pretty quickly. She saw Ken coming back with two butterbeers, then he puts one down in front and she takes a sip.
"Oh really, that's cool." Riko said, she also knew what she wanted to do after she graduates from Hogwarts. "Oh, that sounds like a good idea." Riko said, hopes she can make it in what she wants to do and hopes her family will support her in her choose. Has some more of her butterbeer, trying to think of things to talk about and heard him ask her something.
"The only thing going on with me, is I finally choose between coming an Auror or becoming a singer. And I decided I really want to be singer." Riko said, it is what she really wants to do more than anything else and she loves singing.
“Yeah? It’s great that you’ve decided. I don’t think I’ve heard you sing before,” Ken smiled. As apathetic as he usually was about other people, he was always happy to see younger students find out what they wanted to do and be excited for their future. Discussing this was also a good distraction from his own concern about his job application, since entertainment was such a drastic contrast to his career path. He took another sip of Butterbeer and asked, “How did you come to the decision? Why not an Auror?”

"Yeah, I am glad that I was able to decide what I want to do before I graduate from Hogwarts, since this coming term will be my last year at the school. Oh, I usually just sing in front of my family and when I am at school I will a place no one goes to sing." Riko said, as she smiled. She is proud of herself for being able to figure out what she wants to do as a career, before her last year at Hogwarts and her parents are supporting her in her choice of career. She has to admit that she will miss going to Hogwarts, will miss some of her professors and school. She does feel bad that her sister will be going to the school for her second year alone and be by herself for the rest time of her school years. "I really love singing and I want to share my music with others. I wanted to be an Auror when I was little, but I found out that I don't love it. I just liked the idea of being one like my father." Riko said.
Ken nodded as he listened. “I also considered being an Auror when I was younger. I think it’s something a lot of young witches and wizards go through.” But unlike Riko, he did not have an Auror in the family and had never wanted to follow his father’s career path - who was, incidentally, a singer. He did not bring this up, since he knew his father was not popular enough for anybody their age to know, and he doubted that he would be a good mentor if Riko wanted any career advice. Instead, he swirled his jug of Butterbeer and enquired, “So how do you become a singer? What’s the process?”

"Oh really, my older sister and older brother wanted to be an Auror and then she changed her mind." Riko said, now her sister is a nurse at St. Mungo's Hospital just like their mother. When she told her parents that she wanted to be a singer, thought they would disapprove and was shocked when they said that they would support her and just wanted her to be happy. She has already looked into some companies in South Korea, since that's where she wanted to go to break into the Entertainment industry out there and she always wanted to go live there too. "Well, you have to look for companies who looking for new talent and then you have to sign up for the auditions, hope they pick you. If you make it into an entertainment company, you become a trainee and that's all I know right now." Riko said, taking a sip of her drink.
“Oh okay,” Ken nodded in understanding and drank some more of his Butterbeer. It sounded like a solid plan, not at all like how his father jumped right into the industry with only his bandmates for support. His father had started off his musical career in his hometown, a completely different environment, which piqued Ken’s curiosity about a different subject. “Do you go to Japan often?” Their ethnic background was something else they had in common.

"Yeah, I am sure I will find out what all I have to do to debut as a singer once I become a trainee. That's if I pass the audition I try out at." Riko said, she hoped she passed any of the auditions she signed up for. She wants to become a singer so much, wonders if she should see if any of the entertainment companies in Japan are looking for new talent and makes a plan to check it out. She takes a few sips of her butterbeer, pushes some of her hair away from her face and hears Ken ask her a question. "Not a lot, only go every once in a while with my family. What about you?" Riko said.

“I’m sure you will pass,” he reassured with a smile. He did not know how good Riko was or how competitive the auditions were supposed to be, but it was his duty as a friend to say things like this. Plus, he really did believe in her. “Me too, just once every few years to see relatives. To be honest, I don’t know the country or the language very well,” he admitted. However, he was seriously considering doing parts of his research in Japan and the rest of the world, both to learn different cultures and to expand his intellectual horizon.

"I hope so, I really want to be a singer." Riko said, as she smiled back at him. She knew a lot of people would be trying out at these auditions, would probably be a lot better than her and she try really hard to pass at least one of them. She knows he was trying to help her think positive, she just has to believe in herself and practice any chance she gets at school. "Oh ok, I know some of the language. Since my parents wanted me to know how to speak it, because my grandparents will only speak Japanese and I don't know a lot about the country either." Riko said, now she is thinking maybe she should go visit her grandparents after she graduates and before she goes to auditions.
