Calvin continued to stare at Thalia with a blank expression on his face trying to absorb what she was saying when the lone light bulb in his so called cranium began to light up and glow albeit it took sometime but his brain cells started connecting. “ YES THATS RIGHT!” He called out as he tried to embrace Thalia putting his arms around her as if he was seeing someone again for the first time after years of being apart. “ YES I DO REMEMBER!” He said, more yelled gathering the attention of many on lookers.
“ It’s a simple game really then?” He replied as he began to nod showing that he agreed and understood what Thalia was saying but really he still couldn’t grasp the concept. “Alright what do those baseball players do?” He asked referring to the beaters with the helmets. “ Are they playing baseball while playing Quoi-ditch “ He asked emphasising his Australian accent as he spoke to Thalia. “ Who’s winning right now?” He asked pausing to wait to see who to cheer for before noticing that the game was moving in a different direction. “ So do we move too when the Quaffle moves? “

Now it was too much; Thalia giggled as Calvin dramatically pulled her into a hug. How had she ever felt awkward in his presence? Sure, he was almost an adult, but he was just as approachable as anyone in her own year.
Still wildly amused, she looked back to the pitch. What in Merlin's name was baseball? She tried to figure out who he could mean. They had already discussed Chasers and Keepers, and the Seekers weren't doing anything interesting yet. That must mean... "Oh, are you talking about the Beaters? Well, their job is to protect their teammates from those angry iron balls you see zooming about." She tried to point at one of the Bludgers. "If they can, they also try to take out opposing players by sending the balls at them. And nobody is winning yet, both teams have zero points."

Zipping down the field, Rose noticed a flash of something from the crowds that drew her attention. She looked over to see Don holding up a poster with a roaring lioness, the words ‘Weasley for the Win’ flashing in red and gold. She smiled brightly, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink at the kind gesture, although it was hardly noticeable against her already red cheeks from the physical activity. She had not expected him to support her in such a way, especially considering he was on the Slytherin team and their two houses were known for their competitive streak.
Her attention was quickly brought back to the game as she was bumped by the Hufflepuff chaser, having finally caught up with her. This time, however, he wasn’t holding back quite as much. Her smile faded as she shouldered him back, returning it with the same force. She might have been a girl but she could take a hit. After all, she grew up playing Quidditch with two brothers, and when it came to her they did not hold back.

The two girls playing as Keepers were doing well; Preston made sure to applaud every time the Quaffle was blocked. Scoring goals seemed to be valued more by the spectators than successfully defending the goalposts - even though both were equally important and impressive feats.
He watched the Gryffindor girl and the Hufflepuff boy bump into each other with increasing forcefulness. Females were often at a disadvantage in this game due to their smaller frame, but the Weasley girl was holding her own.

There it was! A glint of gold! Gavyn leaned forward to put every ounce of speed behind his broom as he chased after the fast moving little ball. He needed to catch it for his team and he was really hoping to get there before the other Seeker. Faster and faster he moved, his right hand leaving the broomstick to come up, chasing the Snitch as it darted back and forth in front of him. just a little more, so close now! Leaning forward more he sped up and his hand wrapped around the golden ball with a thrill of excitement running though him. "Got it!"

A wave of cheers from the other spectators startled Thalia. Did someone score? She searched for the reason of this tumultuous reaction. It took her a few moments to realise that the Snitch had been caught. "Oh, disregard what I just said. Gryffindor won - their Seeker caught the Snitch and earned a hundred and fifty points," she informed Calvin.

Olivia smiled grimly as she watched the Gryffindor Seeker chase and finally catch the golden ball. Just as she'd predicted - nobody was able to score during the whole game. That didn't seem to matter to the Gryffindor supporters, who were expressing their joy far louder than the occasion warranted. Oh, well. Perhaps the next game would be more interesting... though probably not.

Don was so focused on following Rose's flight that the eruption of cheers caught him by surprise. He knew the meaning of the sound, of course. He scanned the field and saw the Gryffindor Seeker clutching the Snitch. That was it, then. He felt a little disappointed. True, he had wanted Gryffindor to win, but he'd hoped that Rose would get a chance to score a few times during the game...

Wait, was it over already? He spotted their seeker, and sure enough, he was holding the tiny golden ball. To be honest, he would have liked it to go on a bit longer. In his opinion, Quidditch would be better without the snitch. More like soccer. But then, the wave of realisation that Gryffindor had won hit him like a truck.
”Heck yeah Gavyn, that was cold!” he said, flying over. He nodded at his other teammates as well, grinning. They had done well. GAVYN SCURLOCH

The game was over, and not a single incident had occurred. Preston duly applauded the winning team. If he remembered correctly, it had been a while since Gryffindor last won; now, they started the season off with a victory. Perhaps they would be the champions this term... although it was still too early to tell.

Rose was approaching the Hufflepuff goals when she heard loud cheers, and the announcement that the snitch had been caught and the game was over. Gryffindor had won. Their first win since she had joined the team. A slight wave of disappointment washed over her as she slowed down and turned to find the rest of her team, still holding the quaffle. She had hoped to score at least once before the end of the match, but sometimes that’s just how Quidditch went. Some games lasted hours, sometimes even days, and sometimes they were over in what felt like a blink of the eye.
That disappointment did not last long, however, as the crowd cheered and she zipped to join her teammates in congratulating Gavyn for a game well played. Cheeks still flushed from the rush of the game, she was grinning from ear to ear, basking in the thrill of victory. Now, if only they could keep the momentum, and maybe they would be able to usurp Slytherin’s victory streak that year.
