Thoughts on Blood Purism: As a very easy-going person and someone who believes that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, she acknowledges that people may support that ideology, but honestly all it deserves is a eye roll because she thinks the belief is naturally flawed, that people sticking with it are almost ignorant, and she's annoyed because enthusiasts of that theory are mostly disrespectful towards people of different blood statuses.
Thoughts on the Government: Doesn't have any specific thoughts, but is mostly distrustful of them.
Family:
Descendants of a very famous Seer, her father's side of the family has all been involved in the craft of foreseeing one way or another, adopting the skill/ability by learning from family teachings that were passed down. Similar to how centaurs could predict the future by observing the stars, her family sees the future through various fortune-telling techniques. At birth, Karissa had been gifted the ability to see visions, and has been surrounded by all these experienced Seers growing up, naturally becoming a much more experienced Seer at a young age.
Father: Maverick Qi, 48 - Seer
Mother: Veronica Bai, 43
Sister: Kaylee Qi, 6
Roleplay Example:
She found it hard to sleep that night. Getting tired of tossing and turning, she got up in the middle of the night. Leaning against the open window frame, she stared at the scattered lanterns in front of the tailor's shop opposite from the street. It was dark in the bedroom, and the only thing you could see were the outline of the tables and chairs, bestowed by the faint moonlight. A breeze drifted by, and the flames in the lanterns quickly tried to dodge. They were too late. There was no more light nor color within the streets for as far as the eye could see. All was quiet in the little town. No one was wondering on the streets. It was peacefully quiet. Yet when she raised her vision to the crescent moon, she felt lonely and adrift. No matter how hospitable and generous she seemed during the day, the same sincereness was also the reason of such sensitiveness. She slowly caressed the worn-out book, pages already yellow, picked up the egg-shaped ocarina hanging by the window, and began to play. She played for the one who was now gone. The melody feed on to that melancholy, unwilling to leave; just like how the person playing the song was at a loss with nowhere to send her sorrows.
When she was a child, she thought herself to be one of those dandelions by the streets, drifting alone from the sea of people, at the whim of the wind. But at least she was accompanied by the wind, and so she was at ease.
When she was ten years old, the apothecary had brought her along on a visit to a rich merchant's house in the Capital. As soon as she entered the house, she saw a crowd of people around the little daughter who was dressed in silk and decorated with jewels. Everyone from her grandparents to her cousins were worried and distressed. On the contrary, the little girl who was sick looked like she couldn't had been more unconcerned, as if it she wasn't the one sick. [How come I wasn't envious then?] She felt this bitterness inside herself as she revisited the past, heart screeching with nostalgia. [But alas! They seem to me, not the sun that used to be, not the tides that used to run.("Changed" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)]
