” Morning everyone. ” She greeted the classroom as she placed her books, wand and flower vase with a single tulip on her desk. “ I am Professor Saint Laurent. For those I haven’t met yet, I was an Auror before coming to Hogwarts to teach Transfiguration. I’m also a Metamorphmagus so we can have a little fun around that too. ” She said before she waited for the last few students to take their seat.
“ Okay, so today, we will be focusing on two different types of spells. Years four and five, you will be focusing on the snake vanishing spell. On the left hand side is a variety of snakes in cages I’ve placed all over the floor, each of you will take a turn at the vanishing spell more commonly known as Vipera Evanesca. And now, this spell can’t be used on people you consider snakes. ” She joked before looking to the right hand side.
“ Now, sixth and seventh years. You will have a slightly harder spell to learn. ” She waved her hand to reveal 5 training dummies that appeared out of the blue. “ Today you will be learning a spell that not only makes for a great prank but is also a useful spell to have should. You find yourself needing a distraction in a difficult situation. Melofors. The spell that changes a person’s head into a pumpkin. Now, if used in correctly, this could be disastrous and worse case, permanent if not fixed properly. For that reason, you will be practising the spell on training dummies. ”
She walked over toward the centre of the class before asking a question to the group. “ Now, can anyone tell me what type of classification these Transfiguration spells are ?

Okay, but why was the new Associate Professor so pretty. She seemed sweet but having been an Auror indicated to Levi that she must have some strength to her despite how petite and soft looking she looked. Transfiguration was one of the most complex branches of magic. Having to learn a vanishing spell was one of the most difficult and then it made him wonder where all the vanished items would have went. Is there like some hidden world in which all vanished snakes are roaming free?

Considering Calvin lived on a land mass known to be home to a variety of both poisoners and venomous snakes, learning Vipera Evanesca would be extremely beneficial. He focused heavily on what the Professor was saying doing his best to take note as much as he could quickly scribbling down the incantation into his note book as he waited for someone else to answer the question or else he would of considering Transfiguration was one of his actual strongest subjects.

It seemed Hogwarts had hired a whole new range of teachers. She questioned where his previous professor was but of course, only to himself as he wasn’t bold enough to dare speak up unless asking a question or answering a question. Learning a new and specific vanishing spell was exciting and he even managed to laugh at the Professor’s horrible attempt at a joke. He wrote down the incantation. Henri seemed to be gifted at Transfiguration which was quite rare as it was such a complex piece of magic. He enjoyed the classroom though some of the students were a little more than questionable.

Leo wasn't the best at Transfiguration, but he wanted to try his best. For that reason, he had done a little extra studying, even though he usually preferred Charms to Transfiguration. He hadn't ever heard of the pumpkin head jinx being used on someone, but from what he had read, it sounded very uncomfortable. What happened to someone while their head was in a pumpkin? Could they hear? Talk?
"Isn't Melofors a Conjuration spell?" Leo asked, since that made the most sense. You were using it to summon a pumpkin to trap someone's head in a pumpkin, after all. He wasn't the most certain, so his voice wavered a little.
Leo is blind. Don't expect him to notice your character waving at him.

Where was Professor Min? Maeve had grown to appreciate his efficient teaching style and the ability to maintain order during the lessons. Hopefully, this new teacher would be just as skilled. As a former Auror, she had to be tough - even if she appeared to be kind and mild-tempered.
Maeve noted her mention of the Metamorphmagus ability. So was this her actual look, or just the way she chose to present herself to others - slight build, delicate features, moderate attractiveness, not at all threatening? Perhaps there was more to her than what the first impression yielded.
The seventh-year had heard about the Pumpkin-Head Jinx, but had never attempted casting it. Disabling spells had their uses, but this one sounded more like a tasteless prank. Unless... what did Laurent mean by saying it could be permanent? Maeve had assumed the pumpkin was merely conjured to encase the target's head. Could it also replace it, if cast in a specific way? That would be terrible... and deadly in combat.
"If the pumpkin only encases one's head, it is Conjuration, like Leo said," she stated with a brief glance at her housemate. "But if it truly transforms one's head into a pumpkin, then it is Transformation."

Lee Ji-Hyun arrived on time, found a good spot to sit and got her stuff out of her bag to be ready for class. She took a quick look at her schoolmates who were also taking the class, turned her attention back to the professor and wondered what they would learn about today. After a bit, the professor said good morning to them and said she was an Auror before coming here. She continued to listen to her talk, she said they would focus on two different spells and listened to her tell the fourth and fifth years they will be doing vanishing spell.
Then she tells the sixth and seventh years, that they would be doing a spell a little harder and saw five dummies appear. She goes on to say, that they will be doing the Melofors spell that can change a person's head into a pumpkin and she couldn't giggle after hearing that. She asks the whole class a question.

"Good morning Professor." Gavyn was a fan of Transfiguration, even if he was not particularly good at it. An Auror? Another one? Now he was wondering if being an Auror was a lot more stressful than he'd thought if they were all coming here to teach instead. Though she seemed to be in much better spirits than their Potions Professor. That guy was nice enough he supposed, just never seemed to ever crack a smile in any of their classes.
"Wicked." They were going to be turning each other's heads into pumpkins, that was amazing! Sure it was much more a prank spell than anything useful but he still thought it was going to be great to learn. It very well could be used as a distraction too he supposed, though now he was curious if people wouldn't be able to see or speak with a pumpkin as a head. Now he was much more interested in seeing how the spells worked! "I don't know, but I hope we get to practice using it today."

Pumpkin heads and snake vanishing, seriously? Tynan rolled his eyes at the people who seemed excited and opted to take his textbook out. There had to be something in here that would be on his OWLs this year, something he could practice instead of doing the snake vanishing stuff. Vanishing snakes seemed silly not to mention cruel. There were much better ways to relocate a snake to somewhere safe for them to be, and not one started with burning the snake to a crisp. He had already resolved himself to taking his OWLs, doing the best he could, and then never returning to school so prank spells were not exactly the kind he wanted to work on. It wasn't as though anyone would notice him not participating in the lesson, so why bother faking it?

” Great work.” It didn’t take long for the students to answer her rather simple questions considering this was a bit more advanced magic for some. “ 10 Points to Slytherin.” She replied before she looked over the the sixth and seventh years. “ Whilst the spell may seem easy and for some, and yes it is. However, conjuration happens to be the most difficult sub-branch of Transfiguration. “ She said with an excited tone in her voice. Saint nodded at what the other student had offered to say sharing her extra piece of information. “ Great work, another 5 points to Slytherin. “ She said hoping more of the other students could answer some of the questions.
“Now the reason we’re learning this spell for this lesson for the sixth and seventh years despite being such an easy spell is due to the fact that you’re required to showcase your ability to complete conjuration. “ She paused for a few seconds before taking a breath. “ Now, I could have picked a much more difficult spell however, Professor Min has asked me to run through this spell. I’m simply following instructions given to me. “ She tried to explain knowing it was a little silly to be teaching a simple spell to the sixth and seventh years but it did match the requirements needed.
“ Fourth and fifth years, I’ll ask you to partner up and take turns with attempting the spell and sixth and seventh years, I will be observing you one at a time trying the spell. I now ask that you do this in the following order. “ She tapped her wand on the board behind her as instructions started to appear.
“ First I’ll ask you to practise the incantation, once you feel like you’re ready to give it an attempt, find a partner if you’re a fourth or fifth year and if you’re in the sixth and seventh, form a line taking turns trying to use the spell against the training dummies. The person with the largest pumpkin will be rewarded generously. “ She said before shrugging her shoulders.
“ Begin! “ She said with an excited tone as she began to walk toward the snakes in the cages as she brushed her fingers through her hair changing her black hair colour into a light silver hair colour before waiting for the students to attempt the spell.

If it was indeed Professor Min's instructions to teach this spell, perhaps it was a way to ease the new associate professor into the teaching job. Let students practice easier spells to avoid complications at first, then move on to more complex tasks. Well, Maeve didn't mind learning another jinx - even if it was a juvenile one. Most magic had its place, and she might find a use for it in the future... perhaps when facing an opponent she wished to humiliate.
Maeve rarely ever needed to practice an incantation before casting - not since her third or fourth year of schooling - but she complied nonetheless. "Melofors," she said softly, the simple word sliding off her tongue smoothly. No point in repeating it again.
The seventh-year rose from her seat and walked over to a dummy. How much ill-will was required for this jinx? Some worked fine with no negative intention at all, simply needing the correct pronunciation and wand movement. She decided to funnel some of her pent-up hatred into it, just in case it improved the effects. "Melofors!" Hit by a flash of orange light, the dummy wobbled. It now had a sizeable pumpkin resting on its wooden shoulders.

Calvin watched at the other students began taking notes and began to ponder if he should do the same. He opened up a little notebook and wrote down the incantation before practising it by whispering it ever so softly to himself. He looked up at the professor and back to his notes before he made his way over to one of the cages where a sleeping snake was dormant and still. Pointing his wand at the snake, he spoke with confidence. "Vipera Evanesca!" The snake erupted in flames before slowly vanishing to thin air. Proud with himself, he looked at the others and wondered how they were doing with it all.

At least he wasn't the only fourth year in this class this time. He took the opportunity to look around the class to see if there was anyone he knew aside from his pack. He then watched as the transfer student made an attempt at the spell and waited to see if anyone would follow shortly after. He held onto his wand as he began to practise the spell, making sure to pronounce the spell correctly. While he waited for his turn, he watched the others before him attempt the spell. He lined up but managed to bump into someone by accident. " Oh sorry. " He expressed looking down at the floor.
Jung So Min walked into class, sat down and took out her textbook. She saw some people she knew in the class as she looked around the room, then heard the professor speak and let them know he was covering for Professor Smith, since he wasn't feeling well. She opened her textbook, quickly got to the page that he said to turn to and looked back at the Professor. She had already placed her wand in front of her, thought she would need it and continued to look at the Professor. She started to look through her book for the answer to his question and before she could find it, someone else answered. She listened as other students said something, also took notes on stuff she didn't already know and told them to find someone to partner up with, to look up each other wands wood core and what it means. Then said to research three different wood, write a short paragraph some interesting facts about that wood type for their homework and told them to get started. She had no clue who to ask to be her partner, so she looked around at the other students to see if she could find someone she would want to ask to be her partner.

With the spell successfully performed, Maeve stepped away from her position in front of the dummies. She decided not to join the back of the line; there was no need for her to attempt the spell again. Instead, she returned to her desk and sat on its edge as she watched the sixth- and seventh-years try out the jinx.
